Default Want to get rid of the OTA Update for 2.3.5

So, I used TB recently to freeze the system update on the phone, which is working, but every time I reboot the phone, I still have the update available to me in the notifications, like so: http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h236/RicanGringo90/20111125050454.png

I'm guessing the update is already downloaded to my phone at this point, so how can I go about doing so? And if it isn't, what the heck's going on here?

I have the same issue. The best way might be to get a Gingerbread ROM.

Change the following two lines in the system/build.prop

ro.build.description=SPH-D700-user 2.2.1 FROYO EC05 release keys

ro.build.fingerprint=sprint/SPH-D700/SPH-700/SPH-D700:2.2.1/FROYO/EC05:user/release-keys

to

ro.build.description=SPH-D700-user 2.3.5 GINGERBREAD EI22 release keys

ro.build.fingerprint=sprint/SPH-D700/SPH-700/SPH-D700:2.3.5/GINGERBREAD/EI22:user/release-keys

I have the same question as the OP. I'm not tech-savvy enough to understand that last answer though; could you explain it to me as if I were tech-******ed?

Evidently "r.e.t.a.r.d.e.d." is a bad word here. Let's say I'm "quasi tech-savvy"

You will need to be Rooted, first and foremost...

Then you will need something like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer to access the build.prop file in the /system folder...

Click on it, and create a copy. Name that file build.prop.bak (better safe than sorry).

Click on the build.prop and open it in the Text Editor, be sure to enable Read/Write (versus Read Only).

Change the lines as stated in the previous post. Save and exit.

You will probably need to reboot the phone as well in order for the changes to take effect.
