Let's face it, the battery life on ALL smartphones are awful. I even feel like the iphone is getting worse with every "update". I seriously can't deal with the stock battery. Its really pointless.

I am currently running CM9 alpha 4 with an extended battery (Trexcell on Amazon for $20) and I get all day out of my device. Only thing that sucks is that I can't find cases that fit.

I am not an expert but I did read somewhere that your device and the battery have some memory. Maybe someone with a little more knowledge can help. I do know that in clockwork mod, you can reset the battery info and that always seems to help me. (I always do it before flashing)

I also noticed that after I rooted (everything else stock) the battery life has dramatically gone down. Last night i turned off everything (wifi, gps etc etc), restarted the phone and let it sit overnight. It had 99% when I went to sleep and 8 hours later it had 60%.

I also have an extended battery ($10 on eBay 3800mAh) and get all day out of my device. I don't know if I would with the stock battery. I'm on CM9 alpha 4 also, haven't changed my kernel.

There are a lot of factors when it comes to battery life. ROM, kernel, clock speed, signal strength (and modem), sync settings, widgets, etc. personally I use the extended battery so I don't have to worry about it. I leave my sync on all the time, have a couple widgets, rotating wallpaper, etc.
