Default Use skin/case-Don't use skin/case

I'm just curious as to how many people leave there phones naked.
And how many people use a skin or case, or even screen protector.
Personally, I won't leave the house without my otterbox commuter case on, I just feel like it would be for me to leave me house without clothes on, Dones't feel right.

I use a couple different cases but no screen protector. I have a red slip on case and one of the black silicone cases... phone always has one or the other on it.

at the moment I run the phone naked. I have a seidio case, clear snap together case and one of those high gloss semi rigid skins. In the end I can't stand cases because the phone just feels so good in the hand. The seidio case is the closest thing to naked, to me, but it just didn't work for the long haul.

anyone wanna buy my extra cases? lol

I have a zagg screen protector and a couple different silicone cases for daily use...... I also have one of the more rugged waterproof otterbox cases for when Im on the tractor (Ive run over a phone or 2 in the past ).....wife has a zagg and one of the hard cases with the "pretty" pictures on hers

if you decide to get a pouch/holster of some type it makes a difference in what type of case use....... even the thinner silicone cases wont fit in just every holster ( I had to look around to find one that fit )

Here's why I use both:
Keeps glass from getting scratched. Peel off and apply a fresh protector - just like NASCAR.
If you drop the phone and it has a nice silicone skin, it is less likely to be damaged. After all, I own it and would have to pay for a replacement/repair.
I want to keep it "as new" if I decide to sell it down the road.

I use a screen protector which has save my glass many times. I ordered a 3pk and on the second one already. I have a silicone slip on and it's worth it since I've dropped it on the hardwood floors a couple of times and it gives the phone some grip to handle...
IMO... worth the few dollars...

I have never used a screen protector but used a silicone case for a couple of months but stopped using it a few months ago and since then have enjoyed going completely naked. Sometimes I use a leather holster on my waistband but when actually using it, there is nothing, nothing like the feel of it naked, the way it was meant to be. It has a nice feel and size. (this is starting to sound xxx rated I have heard stories of course about ppl having them slip out of their hands and breaking but I am pretty careful with it. Maybe I will regret it someday if that happens but I don't regret the pleasure I get out of it now, naked

Great responses guys!, whenever I do take off the otterbox case, I love the feel of the phone naked and contemplate putting it back on. Now that I have root, I'm extra careful with the phone, Root is like getting a new phone again! I haven't dropped the phone on a hard surface yet..knock on wood.. but if I do I hope I have the otterbox on. I've gotten used to the extra thickness of the case but it isn't that bad it's easier to hold. But like other have said there's just nothing like the feel of the phone naked.

I used a snap on cover for the first two months and then took it off. This phone is just to damn sexy to be covered up!

I dropped it in my driveway the day after I took the cover off. It landed on battery side down thankfully. It got a few little dings on the battery cover, but I wiped it off and now you have to look really close to see them.

I don't know if I can ever go back to a case.

my eris has been in the buff since day one... theres a youtube vid somewhere of this guy taking like a key and a knife to the glass and... guess what? no scratches! (i've heard if you were to drop it really hard onto something pointy and it hits just the right place it could crack tho...) I'm pretty careful with my phone and haven't dropped it yet so I don't need a case... i think thats what i usually end up doing tho is after i've had a phone for a long time and it does start to take a beating... i'll get a case to cover up the boo-boos...

I use a snap on case ( black rubber ) i assume it is like the Otterbox ones. I tried to go naked with mine at the beggining, but it was just a little too small and light weight for me. Felt like I would crush it in my hands, so the case has been on since and really like the case on it..

I use a screen protector only. I have checked for a case of some sort that would work for me, but I like the minimal feel of the phone.

My wife has the same phone, and has a silicone case as well as the screen protector. She tends to drop hers a bit more then mine.

So far I love the feel of it, and haven't had any major issues. I did drop it once, but it landed on a rug so no damage.

I use the snap on case and holster that they sell at verizon; feels good in the hand, and the holster isn't too... obnoxious, I guess? I'm still also using the free screen protector my eris came with, seems to be doing its job.

Edit: Another plus of using the case/holster combo is that the snap on case is just thick enough to create some insulation between you and the battery/phone. No more hot phone problems for me!

Screen protector only. Dropped it a few times, no substantial damage so far. The back flew off once and the volume buttons bounced out, but I found the little sucker and snapped it back in. No harm, no foul.

Since there is absolutely no reason to use a screen protector unless you keep a bunch of diamonds in your pocket with your phone, I do not use one. I used to, removed it a few months ago, no scratches.

I do use a "gel" case that I purchased on Ebay:

I'm just the opposite. It just doesn't feel right if I have something covering the phone. It's such a nice looking phone, why cover it? It's like when people put those front "bras" on their cars. All it does it make the car look worse and it traps dirt underneath which ultimately scratches the finish and ends up making things worse.

I also HATE screen protectors. They make the screen look like crap and the Eris' screen is virtually scratch proof anyway. I used to put screen protectors on my stuff (my DS, my old PDA, etc.) but I eventually woke up and realized they're mostly useless unless you're working in a harsh environment and constantly have dirt and chemicals on your hands. To the average user all it does it make you think you're adding protection to the phone when you don't really need it. But then again my phone goes in a pocket all by itself when I carry it around.

In the end I'd rather my phone have some minor scratches and dings then have any sort of case/protector on it.

Never without my otterbox commuter. I took my first eris out of its case for 3 minutes, and what happens?...my brother hits it out of my hands, and it falls to the concrete and shatters :P
in addition, with a case, my phone doesn't feel so gosh darn feminine, needs a little girth to it!

All true and they DO cut down on the touch sensitivity. I wonder if some of the folks who complain about their phones are using them and it is contributing to their issues. I used a Zagg, a pretty good one, and there's a world of difference between using one and not.

I bought a cheap silicone skin but i think the phone gets too hot in it, and I don't like the added thickness. I run with just a screen protector. I have had a glass screen scratch before don't believe those who say it can't happen. I am very careful with it since I'm kind of a clutz.

I agree with the others this phone is just too slick to cover it with a bulky case. plus it slips in your pocket so much nicer and you can get a replacement rear cover.

This perspective makes no sense. Is it to save money? Or is this a principle issue of just "wanting to"? If it's to save money, why do you have a Smartphone? An extra 20-30 for protection is nothing compared to the ~80 a month you pay to own it. If it's the other reason, well then, you're just special I guess.

I agree with your comment about car bras. But how do you feel about car wax? Should people not wax their cars because it's stupid and costs money? Or is it worth the investment/time to keep their car looking nice? Depends on the person. Some people like banged up things, some people like to keep their property looking nice.

What is so hard to understand? A bulky case makes the phone look and operate worse than a couple scratches. Just a matter of opinion I guess. A scratched screen is another thing though I guess a screen protector is less noticable to me.

I don't know about the mirror protector I bought an anti glare one and im not impressed . It seems blurry now.

No skin or case. I was going to use a screen protector, but I looked at how it looked on the phone and I didn't like it. I don't mind keeping my phone "naked", though. It's not like it gets a LOT of physical abuse lol and besides isn't that what the warranty is for?

So don't get a bulky case? Have you even seen Seidio's cases?

^^^^
some people just like they're cases naked! everyone has a personal preference...
T-Keith and I (and many others) like our phones to feel free to flap in the breeze!

I personally don't see the need for one. I like the way it feels just fine without a case. I looked into them when I very first got my eris but after a few months of having it... I could probably sell it as new! Like I posted above, I usually like to have my phone naked until its lived a full and free life, and then after its been beat up quite a bit I'll give it a makeover with a snazzy new case!

I have a Phantom Skinz on the phone and, usually, the shell from the (Verizon) shell/holster combo (don't use the holster much, though).

I've dropped it both with and without the shell. Without the shell, in a parking lot, it flew apart, battery came out, etc. and it sustained some pretty decent gashes to the USB port covering...not something I'd like to repeat. With the shell, it has withstood a couple of drops without any harm. Plus, I think I have a better grip on it with the shell on, due to the ribbing. Adds a small amount of bulk, but I'm willing to accept the trade-off.

I'm in a similar situation and use this for my Eris: Holster Shell Combo

If you have a Motorola Droid, they also make the same shell/holster for it.

Also, cheapest on eBay.

I have a black silicone case - it doesn't detract from the looks or add much width. I've dropped the one phone and I'm sure it protected it because it landed screen down and didn't have any damage.

I use a black soft silicon shell, which I'll switch with a white one. I was using a screen protector, but then realized since the Eris has gorilla glass, and I usually don't carry diamonds in my pocket (who am I kidding... I NEVER carry diamonds in my pocket), I am not worried about the screen getting scratched at all.

I like the look of my droid, so I use Zagg's full body shield. Works great if you can apply it correctly. I took the screen portion off... since so many people claimed the Eris screen was so solid... and about 3 weeks afterwards I have a nice 1cm micro scratch... I only notice it in blacks or when the screen is off. That will teach me to leave the screen protector on.

I too leave my Eris naked. I tried one of those hard-shell cases, but I didn't like it.
