Default Do I unzip new ROM? tis my first root

quick question, I am following the universal Eris root for dummies guide (awesome guide by the way and I'd have your babies for writing it if it was physically possible...I'm a dude).

Anyway, I am going to go with the xtrSENSE ROM. Am I suppose to unzip that file on my /sdcard folder prior to going through the gscript stuff?

Thank everyone, looking for to lose my root virginity.

wooot woot, my cherry has been popped. Thus far, it is like a new phone. Much more responsive and I've been playing with it for about 2 hours straight and the battery is rock solid still. Why the poopoo didn't I do this sooner?

thanks to everyone that wrote something in the plethora of threads I read about rooting.

LOL...glad there's still a user or two out there that's still benefiting from those efforts!

There's also folks that still keep an eye-out around here, so even if things look quiet as far as thread activity, there are still those of us that are still "here" (metlcat, doogald, scotty85, bobcat331, condemnedsoul to name just a few) .

Cheers!

also, now that youre up and running make sure you get this recovery installed,as the cute lil trackball is the "achilles heel" of the eris: Amon_RA 1.6.2 Custom Recovery: trackball not required!

it is a great preventative and could save you alot of grief if your trackball quits working.

welcome to the forum... there are alot of great roms for the lil eris.

rodger that, I'll get it on ASAP (eventhough I've had zero issues with my trackball since I got it....a little insurance never hurts).

I do believe my rooted phone will be able to get my through the rest of my contact (November) with VZW.

You've probably not really used you're trackball as much before as you will now that you've rooted and will probably start getting the itch to try something different lol. When I first rooted I thought I'd just find a ROM that worked good and stay with it.. Gladly I was mistaken though . Now I want to learn how to do it all myself and see if I can do what some of these other guys do ... Maybe one day I'll figure it out! Enjoy your newer, better Eris. Maybe we'll meet again when we upgrade in Nov/Dec (Just in time for the Christmas sales )
