Sad Will factory reset erase contacts

I think I need to factory reset my phone but will I lose all my contacts? My picture texts are suddenly not loading, does anyone know how to fix this without trying a reset?

Whether a factory reset will erase your contacts depends on what kind of contacts they are. The Eris uses two types, phone and google. All google contacts are synced with the gmail account associated with your phone. When you do a factory reset, these contacts will come back once you sign into your google account. Phone contacts are stored on the phone itself. These will be erased when you do a factory reset. The way to check if your contacts are backed up is to go to the contacts list on your gmail account and make sure everyone is listed there, and that phone numbers are as well.

When you say that the picture messages are not loading, do you mean they never show up on your phone, or they show up, but will not display the picture? I probably won't know how to fix it either way, but this information might help someone more knowledgeable than me.
