Default Eris won't work with Exchange 2010. HELP PLEASE

My company just updated our email servers to exchange 2010. The second they made the change my email stopped coming and my eris won't connect to the servers it seems.

Does anyone know a work-around or an application I can install that will allow me to access my email again?

Greatly appreciate any assistance.

Hello avespucci.

Have a look at this page at the HTC support site:

HTC Mobile Phone Support - DROID ERIS by HTC (Verizon) - Connectivity and Internet

Interestingly, Verizon is rolling out a new update right now, and Exchange 2010 support is one of the things that the update is meant to add/fix.

See this page: Software Update: DROID Eris by HTC

The first PDF on that page lists Exchange 2010 support as a feature.

People on the forum here are reporting that they are getting this update. Until somebody reports the location of the update, there is no way to manually add it until your phone is randomly chosen by the servers to be updated. It usually takes about 10 days to 2 weeks to update everyone, if past history is followed.

If you cannot wait, you can try the application Touchdown. I've not used it myself, but they say that they support Exchange 2010. That app costs a lot (the key app is $20) but there is a 30 day trial. That may get you through until you get the OTA update.

thanks so much for the details!

I downloaded touchdown but it was unable to connect to our servers .

Knowing that the OTA update is going to happen in the next 2 weeks is a huge relief though.

I guess i'll just suck it up until then.

Thanks again.

hmm... upon reading further this seems to just be for the calendar.

I currently am unable to access my email from the device let alone the calendar.

I'm hoping the fix will do both otherwise i'm in a bit of trouble.

That's really odd... I've been using my Eris to sync with Exchange 2010 since I bought it on release day.... calendar and email both work. I've never had a problem with it.

That said, sure wish I could sync to multiple Exchange servers!!! Do any HTC android phones allow that or do I have to go to Motorola or Apple to get multiple exchange syncs?

Google might be your friend. Does this help?

LOL, the funny thing about that is I was the last person to post in that thread... I'm not sure I want to drop $20 on touchdown app... but I could look into setting it up as MAPI... maybe I'll play around with that.

But really, I was looking for alternative devices, I'm planning to upgrade this summer. I know that it's a MS CAS issue, I just wondered if HTC had made a bargain with MS or if they are still only allowing 1 access license per device?? I heard the newer Motorola phones can have 4 or 5 Exchange connections, just like the iPhones can.

edit:

Also, I doubt the touchdown app works properly with Exchange Active Sync policies, but maybe I'll have to research it a bit... Remote Wipe, minimum password requirements, etc..
