[KERNEL] Plague Overclock Kernel for LG Esteem MS910 - UPDATED!
Ok folks, as we know have CWM working I can now post my custom overclocked kernel.
Its build from LG source and modified by myself with assistance from mtmichealson. It has a max oc of 1804Mhz (1.8Ghz) with scaling inbetween and even some lower settings added.
Its been running and very stable @1.8Ghz for all I know who are running it. It has 2 additional governors added, smartass2 and interactive. Smartass2 has been reported to revert back to ondemand or performance. I will correct this in a future build or make sure thats what its suppose to be doing.
Changelog:
Added a link for the 2016Mhz (2Ghz) Plague Extreme kernel. I revert the versioning back to perf so to avoid any module conflicts. But the HDMI out still seems not to work. :\
1172012
Added 2.2Ghz max oc for the brave souls!!!
Added HDMI fix - thanks to mtmichealson
I would like to thank our team of testers, they been a great help to me and mt, thanks guys!!!
Download and copy to your sdcard and install with CWM or RZR. No wipes needed. Get SetCPU or similar app to set overclocking.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! I am not responsible for anything you do to your phone!

Now all we need is someone to figure out how to get it on the phone to test it lol
1.6Ghz I like the sound of that. Was gonna get the phone next week but might have to just go get it tonight. Since it sounds like no one is willing to be a test dummy for you. I also think we all need to donate to PG. Since myself and im sure many others here were or our ascenders and without his work we would still want to throw that laggy pos at the wall. So if no one offers up there time and phone to test these out i will hopefully have the phone within the next 24 hours. i just gotta get it without the wife knowing what im going to do lol.

The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to mteezey For This Useful Post:
PG, I can confirm that the stock rom is overclockable to 1.4Ghz like you asked in a different post. The extra .2 would be more than welcome though.
Also, I'm willing to be a test subject for the stuff you're working on (CWM and new kernel) not too experienced with android as this is only my second android phone and my firest one was the indulge which was only fairly recently rooted, but I've been a linux user for years so I shouldn't have too hard a time learning the stuff with minimal guidance

How were you able to overclock? My max with setCPU is 1GHz
So I updated my PRL and after the reboot I'm capped at 1024 MHz
I don't know if it was the PRL update or just the reboot (First time my phone's been off since I bought it)

how did you get 1433 mhz ZombieBear what script you use
No scripts, just rooted phone and weren't to CPU tuner, i used to use it to underclock my indulge when the seen was off and it extended my battery life.

Yea 1.4Ghz should be achievable on the stock ROM from I seen of the kernel src. Just root and use a cpu oc app like setcpu, android oc, etc.
Mine will let it goto 1.6 and plan on a 1.9 version as well.

u guys should really start searching for apps that can overclock stock seriously get busy... if you want a badass phone u have to help... start searching the andriod market and not to mention xda developers get busy people im getting the esteem soon so ima be on here soon watch out for me lol..
I was really hoping that by the time i get the phone i would be able to root(success), overclock(need help, work in progress), recovery(need help, work in progress), roms(TBA,need recovery, need help)

Personally i wouldnt recommend this on the lg, but if anyone wants to test, BIO means...but would be better to wait till the OC kernel is release, but very important, wait till recovery menu and rom is made before attemping anything you are unsure of...
i'm happy to try it out if you'll walk me through it. stuck in boot loop.... kinda. it will load to setup wizard, then die. but if i hit the exit button in the setup wizard, then it halts the reboot. and i can stay on my phone till the screen falls asleep. once the screen is asleep, it auto reboots... uggh. all from just changing the fonts in the system/font folder.... well, i say that, i renamed the original fonts while the system was running. when i exited root explorer, the screen froze, and started the boot loop.

Off topic, but possibly if you lengthen the time before the screen goes to sleep, it could give you a long enough window to ADB push the original fonts back to the system.. Just a shot in the dark..
Hey bro, since you compiled the kernel maybe you might find this useful.
This is for compiling clockworkmod from source for a motorola droid.
The script has motorola specific stuff in it, but i'm trying to learn how i might replace that part with lg stuff instead.
man, now i know why it takes so long lol... I'm just syncing the sources to my hefty linux box over a 30Mbit internet connection and it's been taking HOURS lol...

yes sir, it takes a while, did a little testing on the ascend and it was to fun at all when you get frustrated...

Lets say I make a BAD recovery image during my testing. And i flash it to my phone, would it still boot up fine as long as i didn't try to go into the recovery itself?
If that's the case, then at least I can safely play around once i'm able to compile stuff. I know the LG source has the code for it's normal recovery, so the trick would be somehow merging that with clockwork source code. I'm guessing stuff wouldn't work perfectly at first, that's why I ask.
I will see if I can practice making a recovery image for the virtual device emulator. Then I could get the hang of it without risking the real phone. At least in theory.
After doing some reading It seems that I am correct about that.
Since it's not the boot partition, you just won't be able to get into recovery after a bad flash.
I'm still messing with sourcecode trying to see what I can compile etc etc...

so that is a good thing then correct? I am assuming that means that if you flash a bad recovery you will still be able to boot your phone? which means all you have to do is tweak the recovery and try again and see if it lets you in?

You may go into fastboot mode though right? Then you'd have to wipe the recovery partition with adb fastboot and put another on there. At least that's how it was on the OM
I encourage searching things out. I think it builds character (I own an Indulge, I know all about seeking out knowledge of things over your head to build character) but please don't randomly experiment guys till there is a custom recovery, or you'll be enjoying your nice new bricked phone while you wait out the Christmas season.

funny, missed this post. but yes, and in developer options checked wake lock on charge option. now I have to learn how to use adb.
PlayfulGod, Is there a overclock kernal built yet and I know this is an old post but I didn't find any other realitive info concerning this development. If you have anything valueable to point me in the right direction. could the overclock kernal be done with eclipse and port from similiar kernal? I'm new to this so I hope this is not stupid question.

They got an overclock kernel and plan to release it when they release cwm
