Default [GUIDE] CWM Advanced Recovery To Stock/Bloated ZVD

First everyone say congrats to my "partner in crime/helping people" on here
Android Forums - View Profile: mrpnut on a healthy baby boy

YOU KNOW THE ROUTINE-I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS AS A RESULTS OF ATTEMPTING THIS GUIDE.

IT WOULD NOT BE POSTED HERE IF IT DID NOT WORK

So after rooting your phone you failed to make a backup right after rooting and after flashing a few ROMS/Kernels/Themes you just want a fresh start of ZVD. Until we have a stable ZVD ROM here are your options.
The hard way:
1.
http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/479734-guide-downgrade-ms910zvc-ms910zvb.html
then
2. {GUIDE x2} Update to ZVD/Root ZVD

The easy way:
This is a way to get back to stock/bloated ZVD using the advanced restore option in CWM.
This backup was created by factory resetting my phone, setting up a dummy Gmail account to install quick boot from the market(Google play store).

As said by some guy who dabbles in Theme & ROMS
Quote:
i have noticed this and then posted one myself lol then i made this thread to hopefully answer some questions... but it just made more questions arise lol but i have spoke to shiney about this already and yeah he is merging them into 1 large zvd thread when he can as they each die down a little, because some of them are actually usefull... but most arent.. just the random new guy creating an account just so he can ask a question someone else already asked.. but like fuzzy said it is a forum lol

but hey we were all that new guy/girl asking some silly question because we didn't know the rules at some point before right? lol im sure it will get cleaned up as time goes buy.. we jus gotta remember 'forum's is not a job, we dont get paid lol so were not always available __________________
Patience and the willingness to read, follow instruction, and learn is really all that is need to advance from n00b status. Remember the search option in this great forum. More often then not someone has already asked the question and has gotten an answer
Lets try and make Shiny's guide job easier y'all

I was having the same issue! I downloaded this MULTIPLE times via phone pc etc... WAY before this was released. Everytime I tried to find it, it was nowhere to be found. Only way I could find it was to move the files to cwm backup folder. After I do that I try to restore and I get md5 mismatch error. I'm not sure this works?

Like we said earlier..every phone is different..more often than not its just a missed step..the guide is not perfect..even after I posted it..recalled some things I had left outbthat I know that other may not.
I will add to it.

The first time I THOUGHT I got it to work I was just installing an old backup. Are your other testers confirming the deletion of the dummy gmail account?

Okay is anyone changi g the names of the backups? I need to know this because if u EVER change the name of a backup then it will be rendered useless just to let you know and you will need to repackage it properly. This has worked for all of us testers and we need to know why you all are having issues. And Pnut, at least nothing has cganged, we both have new borns and are up all night LoL but nothing has changed from staying up all night helping everyone HaHa LoL congratulations... Feels different to be a daddy!

No doubt... I couldn't either. It's pretty insane getting used to at first but from what my doctor told me, even though you will want him to sleep as much as possible at first, not to be TOO quiet because then he wont be able to sleep through ANY noise. I have learned that so far it has been somewhat effective to be honest. Back on topic though LoL

One more thing Pnut, Chess has given a thank you to you on my "Check Out THIS B/S" thread over on the Non-Root forum.

Yes, I dont want to confuse anyone but when you are making a backup an MD5 Sum is generated to match the files just like when you are restoring one an MD5 Sum is Checking itself to make it sure it matches the files inside. If this does not pass inspection then it will not work properly. Changing the names on ANY file OR folder will change what the MD5 Sum SHOULD be and will nto match what the MD5 Sum currently is making the inspection fail. All-In-All, if we do not tell you to rename or altar something then DON'T DO IT! LoL

Thank you by the way for the congratulations.

I've got to where I can change the name of the backup BUT you can't put any spaces at all.

But we all know every phone is a different brain but ever since I found out about not putting any spaces in the name I haven't had a single MD5 mismatch yet.

correct you can, if you do it properly you are able MOST of the time. now with some files you are completely unable to so that's why I tell everyone NOT to. so we don't have to explain to people which ones you can can't because that just creates problems.

I've never tried changing anything else other than backups, never had a situation that called for it.

I personally make backups like whoah, so just the time stamp ain't gonna work so i have to change the name.

I like having 2 of each back up just in case a check sum error arises, which I've gotten before for no reason at all. I've learned from my mistakes so I'll be damned if i get screwed again. Haha

All i get is md5 mismatch. No file name changing nothing. Its prolly my phone but i CANNOT get this to work :-( I'm just gonna downgrade then update again.
I really think it is my phone. I have zvd but the funny thing is, I know metro removed the boot animation sound with the update but i still have the sound. My phone is messed up i think.

Just to clarify (I am a little slow) this process will let us update to ZVD from our custom installed kernels Using the CWM recovery?

No....this once you have updated to ZVD will allow you to get back to the way the phone is after a data/factory reset. No other apps installed other than quickboot from the market. A true glorified bloated out of the box base...to say flash themes over. Does that sence
Reason it was created is because many never made a backup once updated to ZVD. Downloaded ROMS and themes not intended for ZVD and encountered problems.
