Go to the Google Play(market) and download ROM Manager. Open the app and at the top select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" let that run then when finished go Backup & Restore and select "Backup Current Rom"

Sent from my LG-MS910 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-4

Ok. I did that, I noticed it was checking for an sd card, but mine wasn't installed. Does that make a difference?

My apologies to fuzzy13. I was not unpacking the zip files. I am such a noob.lol

Uhuh..without your external as card in in puts the backup on your internal card..all good. Now you have an "out" if your phone get crabby after trying a new app, flashing a ROM , theme, ect.
Fuzzy is a good guy..like myself and mrpnut just trying to get ya'll where you want to be. That's allright when rooting my phone yesterday forgot to check USB debug prior to(downgrade upgrade uncheck that by default
Gonna fire up the laptop and will post up your options

It IS all personal preference= you can now customize your phone to exactly the way you want it(as you are now rooted).

I great place to stat is here:LG Esteem: All things Root Guide

Gives some explanations on the terminology, lists available ROMS,Themes,Kernels(well most of them).

As you are running ZVC the majority of the choices in there are available to you.

The best one to start with would be List of apps safe to remove
as bloat(is the #1 killer of your battery).

Ahh was reading through the thread(thought it said ZVC).

K...for now your "safe" options are:
ROMS
http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/481810-rom-stock-debloated-zvd-c-b-3-24-12-a.html

Themes
http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/493172-final-request-ldk-ick-theme.html
[Theme][Port][WIP] GoldenEsteem
http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/512920-theme-port-phone-candy.html
[Theme] Clear Bubble
[Theme] Toxic Green

Kernels
http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/520635-kernel-ld-zvd-kernels-more-than-1-a.html

The choice is yours to flash something not based off of ZVD however there may be problems. Every phone is different.

Being that he was running all the files I figured he did. I mean who doesn't extract the zip folder? LOL

Lesson learned.

Now that my phone is rooted, I was wondering if someone could help sort out what I should do next. I want to get rid of bloatware and make my phone run smoother and faster. I know nothing about roms, kernels or flashing or just about anything else. Just not sure what roms or kernels are best for my phone. I have a rooted esteem with a stock ZVD.

Well being that there isn't much for zvd right now i would say your choice is easy.

Always check the guide here LG Esteem: All things Root Guide which is stickied at the top of the page. You can find everything available for the esteem there. Plus you can find most of the answers to the questions you have because I'm sure they have been asked before.

If you want to remove metro garbage download titanium backup. You can backup and uninstall apps through there.
