Yeah I had problems with the last two versions. They run really good but had problems with playstore not letting me update my apps. I tried reflashing a few times, fixing permissions and nothing. I ended up going back to 2.5.1 as that was really stable and gave me great battery life on my phone.

2.5.4 was running really good until I flashed 2.6 then I then I tried to use swype_B and in went int FC hell. That's why I just went back to 2.5.1 and used swype _A and it's all good now..

Yeah 2.6 lagged so bad for me and I was in force close hell. So I'm back on 2.5.4. Runs smooth enough for me.

I wasn't trying to bad talk your work man, I really appreciate the time and effort you have put into this ROM. Just like to mention issues that come up so that they're known, since you're the only one who can rescue us.

I love to update to latest and greatest but there's always that risk of bugs since in essence we are the beta testers of any new release and I'm ok with that. Your work to solve all theses issues is what has made our phones so great. I used to hate my phone when I just bought it and now thanks to this ROM I'm able to hold off buying the GS3 since I tried it at the store and the Esteem runs almost as good. Of course I want all the bells and whistles of the GS3 but @$400 I rather use that money to buy my kids some xmas gifts.

The only problems I was having was updating my apps IDK why but adding swype_B really killed it. After many reflashes I decide to go back a few in hopes of wiping whatever the problem was and it worked. As for letting it settle for a week, I can't have my phone glitching that long as it's almost my laptop now and use it too much for it not to work right for even a day.

Anyway, sorry for the book here but just wanted to clarify a lil and not sound like I'm just complaining and not appreciating your work.

is there an easy way to replace the modded MMS app from the recent versions? I love the contact images it uses but I do not care much for the tiny input box....makes it difficult to read what you have previously typed....

I would just extract a version from a previous #2 rom but thought I'd ask first before I break something lol =]

Yeah I think it was because I tried to go back on the swype kv that I fudged things up. It was running really good but I couldn't update any apps , it kept giving me an error when it tried to install saying file was invalid and nothing I tried fixed it except going back to the older ROM.

I'm going to give another try I like having the newest versions all the time. Just posted my problems to see if anyone else was having them also.

Update: just tried it again from 2.5.1 running good and it went into FC hell again, it doesn't like my phone well I'm happy with the older version. I'll stick to what ever works best for me.

I don't understand how you guys are having problems with this ROM. Maybe if you post a little more details about how you are flashing it we might be able to help you.
I never have problems with this ROM except for the ones that have been confirmed by Ldrifta.
This is how I do it.
Before I get started I backup all of my user apps with ROM Toolbox and I also backup my settings for my launcher.

1. Reboot into recovery mode
2. Factory reset
3. Flash ROM
4. flash Bluetooth settings fix
5. Reboot phone
6. Sign into Google account
7. I use the File Manager that comes with the ROM and locate the backup folder for ROM toolbox and click on the ROM toolbox apk folder to install ROM toolbox.
8. Restore all of my backed up apps with ROM Toolbox .
9. I open my launcher and restore the settings Which place all of my icons where I had them before.
10. Reboot phone
This whole process normally takes me less than 10 minutes.

Doing nothing out of the ordinary flashes, go into recover wipe cache, dalvik then flash ROM.

Well on a good note after all the FC's I went back to recovery and fixed permissions as someone else mentioned and that worked, running smooth as hell now!!!. Haven't tried bluetooth yet. Someone else mentioned it works so I'll assume it does...lol

ldrifta,

Is it okay If I use your #2 Rom and modify a bit (use overclockable speed kernel, remove some apps, change some icons) then publish with different name rom?

I know that you are very open to sharing your work and I will definitely mention your credits. But since I am very new to this so..

It will be something like below.

Let me know if there are some parts that I have to be careful on your work.

Thank you!!

,,,,,,,

ROM Description
Based on Ldrifta's Number #2 Ver2.6

Kernel
* MS910 ZVD Speed Unleashed (overclock-able up to 1.9Ghz)

Contents
Custom Notification Bar Icons, Battery Icon, Lock Screen Icon
Simple Boot Animation
Holo Launcher
Default Metro Web Browser and ** Themed Miren Brower
....

Just my 2 cents here, but I have noticed all the sluggishness was not from upgrading /downgrading, it was from not having wiped my internal card in a LONG time. All that build up of cache, tartar, and gingivitis. :P

If you choose to wipe it, backup EVERYTHING to your pc first, then wipe the internal card from settings, NOT from CWM. Don't ask how I know.

Lol, tried this, and the Esteem will not format the internal card.
After all the prompts, it just sits at the screen and does nothing.
On the third attempt, both the internal and external storage areas unmounted and remounted, no formatting done.

So I just deleted all the crap from the internal after I made the backup, we'll see if that was enough, or if I need to investigate it further.

to all the fc'ers out there LOL the reason it is happening is because there was a semi-huge change with some the dalvik props, so of coarse it's gonna get all screwy when you flash with no wipe.. but i assume the safest way without wiping data would be to manually wipe the cache & dalvik BEFORE installing the rom

and for the mms guy, i totally meant to fix that to be honest.. lol so now im upset because i have to update the rom again with that fix LOL im obligated to because it's neccesary and i also am sick of the way it works lol, was trying to get us more room on the screen lol..

looks like im out of retirement.. damnit LOL

and for the guy who wnts to distribute something! go for it!! lol jus be sure to give credit where it's due! im not the only person who has contributed to this rom

yea its not a bad idea to clean up the internal and external, every now and then, all kinds of useless stuff is on them,i cleaned mine up and my opinion, made a big difference ,just like the forum family states(BACK UP FIRST) then give it a try,and see for yourselfs..

Regarding Swype.. not a flashable version out, but new beta works fine.. setup a free account at Swype.com/getswype .. believe that's the link.. otherwise goto Swype.com and click get Swype

What do you mean when you say you put your phone to sleep? did you turn your phone completely off?

The phone is still going to use battery even though the screen is off. If you are not concerned about missing phone calls just put your phone on airplane mode and it will use way less battery.

Default Low battery life on 2.6?

I charged to 100%, unplugged, got to work on a 40 min drive, dropped 20%?
Is anybody having battery draining issues?

Mine hasn't been that bad, but is there a lot of coverage in the area of your drive?
While the phone is searching for a signal, it uses a lot of juice.
Over night, mine uses about 20% while not doing anything, but it only drops that fast when it has a low signal or no signal. Or I am using it to play a game/browse the Web/check the forums...
