[VIDEO GUIDE] Test Mode/No service fix (# to Hidden Menu)
READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY AND DO NOT SKIP STEPS!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT IS Test Mode? = # button goes straight to LG Hidden Menu. When USB cable is plugged in it says Factory Data Cable connected. Can't change USB connection, only on charge.
More than likely if you are in test mode, you have NO service. Your "about phone" reads no phone number, min number and PRL is usually 40000. BUT you have data service right? IF you are lucky enough to have service, then scroll to the TEST MODE FIX section.
This guide will fix all of these issues and get your phone back to normal. This guide is going to be fairly long but detailed. I'm going to divide it into sections in order of what needs to be done. So follow directions and everything should be okay.
-Thanks to Gbiggie for his LGPNST guide. I had to edit it homie cause we aint using it all
-Thanks to.............................will fill in later.
NEW USERS PLEASE READ
If you searched and found this thread because you are having a problem with your phone I want to thank you for signing up here at AF. But DONT let this be the only reason for coming here. I want you to stay and enjoy the perks of your phone. We have an AMAZING family here willing to help and guide you through your needs. Dont just take what you want and run. Be appreciative of the people that make all this happen!!!!!!
With that being said if you DO have a problem, go over the steps that you are on and double check everything. If you still have a problem post your question up here. I ask that you NOT Pm me due to I might not see it and I dont want you waiting on me when other people can answer your questions.
Let's get started
DO NOT SKIP STEPS. DONT JUMP STRAIGHT TO TEST MODE. Go in order and take your time. If you have a problem it's prolly something on YOUR end.
This Video is made to work in conjunction with the post below.
I recommend downloading the video here and playing it on Windows Media Player. YouTube quality is AWFUL and the screen is smaller. Much easier to see on WMP.
-First Unzip the 2 files you downloaded. (LGPNST,TEST MODE FIX)
-Next install the DRIVERS exe in the drivers folder.
LGPNST INSTALL
We are going to Install LGPNST which will be used in the 3rd step to restore your phone #, MIN and PRL. Which will activate your service and get it back working.

--Open up the LGPNST folder on your desktop.
--Open the "Move these files to desktop" folder and copy and paste the "skin.dll" and "VS910.dll" to the desktop.
--Next, start at "Install Me 1st" and go in order and install each of the files located in the folders, ending at "Run Me After (Install Me 4th)".
Folder Contents
-1st Folder-Store Version Install
-2nd Folder-Lab Version Install
-3rd Folder-Components Install
-4th Folder-Generic Models Install
-Run Me After Folder-Right Click and "merge" the Right_Click_Register.dll
*After you install all the files. Navigate to your desktop and locate the VS910.dll you moved earlier. Right click and "register".
(You shouldn't get any errors when registering the .dll files. If you do, try to reinstalling all the LGPNST files; Store, Lab, Comp, Generic.)
READ IF ERRORS WITH DLL.
If when you click on "register" on the vs910.dll and a window opens up that asks you to CHOOSE a program to open it up with NAVIGATE to C:/windows/system32 and double click on the file regsvr32. It should register the dll.
--Then, Right Click and COPY the "Skin.dll" file you moved earlier on your desktop and paste it to the LGPNST install, which should be C:/LGElectronics/LGPNST
(It will ask you if you want to "Copy and Replace" the existing skin.dll, Click YES.)
--LGPNST is now installed.
--Next you need to get your 6 digit SPC # from the MEID convertor. Your MEID is located under the battery OR on your original box, that way you dont have to pull the battery. (Make sure you enter your MEID in correctly) MEID is the same as IMEI.
--If you are getting it from your phone, go ahead and RESTART your computer. If your getting from the site then RESTART after you get your SPC#.

--Get YOUR "COM" number and remember it. This is what USB port you are plugged into. (If you don't see your phone, the drivers are NOT installed correctly.)
--Open and extract the Test Mode Zip on your desktop
--Open up the folder "Test Mode Fix" You should be looking at this.
--Open the drop down menu and find YOUR "COM" port.
--Click on CONNECT after you select YOUR "COM" and it SHOULD look like this.
--It takes 2-3 seconds and your phone will reboot if it is successful.
CONGRATULATIONS. You are now out of the dreaded TEST MODE.

RESTORE SERVICE
Ill try and put all pics back up when i get a chance. If someone wants to take the liberty of taking pics and sending them to me, I'll make sure to give plenty of credit for this guide.
--Plug your phone into your USB port and put the phone into "Internet Connection" and Enable USB debugging.
--Open up LGPNST from your computer. (C:/LGElectonics/LGPNST/LGPNST.exe (Notice it's already seeing my phone COM7)
DO NOT OPEN UP LGPNST_CT. Open the correct application from the location above!!!!!!!
--Navigate to "FILE" and click "Select DLL". You should see the "VS910.DLL" that is located on your desktop. Select it. (If you don't see it, go back to your desktop and right click and register it again and try again.)
--Once you select "VS910.DLL" CLICK ON THE YELLOW AREA where it says "STAND BY". Notice how the "Start" button, phone settings and other buttons are enabled now?
--Click on the "Phone Setting" button in the middle of the screen.
--It will ask for your SPC code that we got earlier from the MEID convertor. Enter your SPC code and click enter.
--You should now be looking at a screen like this
--Click the READ button down in the bottom left hand corner. Once it finishes, click on SYSTEMNAM1 on the left hand side and you should see something like this, only with YOUR info.
--We are going to edit Mobile Directory Number MDN , MIN1 and MIN2 by double clicking in the area below "Value 1".
-MDN- YOUR 10 digit phone number -MIN1- YOUR 7 digit phone number (NO area code) -MIN2- YOUR 3 digit area code
Also make sure you have SOMETHING in Home SID. I've seen a couple people that have had this missing. If it's empty try entering in 6503. That's the one I see the most.
MORE THAN LIKELY, you will have to call Metro PCS when complete this process as your MIN might be different than your phone #. Just call Metro and tell them you cant make calls but have data and they will help you.
Click WRITE once you have entered the info.
--Once that is done the window will close out, or close it out, and go back to the main screen of LGPNST.
Now we are going to enter the PRL
--On the main screen. Click PRL/ERI beside "UPGRADE".
-Click WRITE. Then PRL. Then NAM1. And select the folder icon beside NAM1 and navigate to the desktop and click on the PRL that you downloaded earlier.
--Once you've entered the PRL. Click START and let it run. Your phone will reboot once it's finished. (If you get an error, try another PRL)
When your phone reboots you SHOULD be back to normal working order out of test mode and with full service. YAYAY!!!
CANT MAKE CALLS BUT HAVE SERVICE?
-The HOME SID that we entered might not be the correct one for your area. Just call Metro and tell them you have service but cant make calls. They will get you straightened out.
-Your MIN is one of those that might be different from your phone number. Call Metro PCS and they will take care of it for you.
-Test mode is bitch, plain and simple. For whatever reason this has started happening a lot lately and for no reason. Unfortunately I was one of the OG's of the test mode crisis and luckily following these steps got me back to normal working condition.
*Thanks to the creator of TEST MODE FIX over at XDA. Thanks to the people that I was hysterically on the phone with that fateful night of my test mode. You know who you are
-If you have any questions about this guide, please ask any of the amazing "Esteemers" we have here (Gbig, Pnizzle, MT, Shiny, PG, Blax, Epayne, SU, Ldrifta,Josh D) or myself. If i didn't include your name I either forgot or I dont trust you for help. Sorry.
I tried to be as in depth as possible so just re read if you have any problems but feel free to ask away.

Well I know my problem was that in downgrading to B, my com port dropped which faulted in the middle of the installation. From which had to finish with a "phonebook" file. Basically emergency recovery for the installation. But by it doing this it automatically sends the phone into test mode.
Now I've already heard several occurances where people are saying that their phone freezes or just reboots and when it does it comes back up in test mode. Phone number gone, prl is 40000 and # button goes to LG hidden menu. All for no reason. Makes no sense at all. I was thinking that it might have something to do with ZVD but I dont know.

I'm seeing more and more people on various forums having test mode problems.
If we knew what the "fix" actually fixed then maybe we could start a synopsis on how it begins and what causes it for the ones that happen for no reason.
Someone pull the exe apart and see what it actually does.
reason this may be happening to peoples phone is due to lgnpst some have flash the tot file using the lab version and not the store version, but also when it happen to me i use the lab version and went straight to Test Mode, but with store version the flash went well.
This is a heads up for why peoples get stuck in Test Mode.

Most of the ones I'm seeing lately are happening for no reason. Phone will freeze and after you pull the battery and boot back up, its in test mode.
I know lgpnst will do it cause that's also what happened to me. Shit sucks

Also just so the noobs that love to tweak things they don't know about know, that LGPNST is not something to play with and do "kewl" things. So once your in there, follow the guide and get out. Don't F with shit because you will be right back here with a thread usually titled "HELPPP!!!!!!".
Have a good day

Really thankful for this thread and the guide was rather easy to follow but I still haven't fixed the problem. I'm out of test mode but still have no service, although I have bars and my 4g works fine. Can't send/receive texts or calls. Using prl 3029. My phone number shows up under phone status as well as MIN.
Just for clarity, is your ten-digit phone number supposed to be in the values for both NAM Name and Mobile Directory Number (MDN)? The guide doesn't mention MDN but it's being pointed to in the screenshot, or maybe I just read it wrong. Is Nam1 and Nam2 supposed to be MIN1 and MIN2 in the screenshot too? I just don't want to mess anything up ><.

MDN is your 10 digit phone number. I mis typeded and entered NAM. Nothing goes in NAM Name.
Then MIN1 is your 7 digit # minus area code and MIN2 is your area code.
Glad you asked that because it was an error. This should get you fixed. Report back and let me know. Glad your working thus far.

Okay I left NAM Name blank and tried again, still doesn't work .
Last night before even posting on here I hit the Undo button thinking it would undo any editing I made and I'm not really sure what it did, so I might have messed something up there ><.
An image of what everything looks like should be attached. Is Value 2 next to MIN1 and MIN2 supposed to look like that or be a repeat of what was in value 1?

It sounds like you have no service. Call metro and tell them you have no service. The phone might need to be put back on the network. Udk. Worth a shot

Aight dude the window for me helping you on the phone has closed but this is what I found out for you.
2 things are happening here. 1. Your MIN is NOT your phone number which apparently is the case for some people. Call Metro PCS and tell them to give you your MIN#. If it's NOT your phone number then you know that was your problem.
Sorry about that, had a few finals today ><. So I should hit up Metro PCS and just ask for my MIN? I'll give it a shot and get back to ya on here soon.
