On a serious note, great job dude. You went the correct routes and asked for permission which is the "right" thing to do and you built something you can be proud of.

Thank ya all, i appreciate the good feedback on how things look and sound.
If i get good enough feedback from testers... maybe ill post link in OP.
I just don't want 20 people downloading it and saying "WTF DoVeR u forgot this, u forgot that, u did it wit the wiffleball bat soooooo I'm on the run the cops got my gun.......what the hell was i talkin bout?
Oh yeeah. I want to see how it reacts on different phones before i prematurely release the load. Giggity
I also have a ton of things to mod/theme... and some things i can't figure out. Like changing the lg boot logo. My last attempt left my phone taking 2 min to boot and broke my wifi.
Updating op shortly

Thats the right way to do it dude. You've obviously done your homework on how things work around here. It's refreshing to see unlike some people, cough ABCindicate cough, who come in and act like Jesus and tell everyone they are hear to save the Esteem. Well we see how far that got them........and how far it got them on Android Central.
This is what keeps the Esteem forums a badass forum. The PEOPLE!!!! If you go in any other compatible forum you dont see anything CLOSE to what we have. No tweaks and stuff like that and you damn sure dont see the support that we have here.
One reason why when My Nexus comes I will still be a full time member to the people of the Esteem forum. Just cause I wont have an Esteem dont mean I cant help out. Hell, i know this damn phone inside out upside and down.
Keep up the good work homie

dover i didn't get to flash it yet i just got back from grocery shopping, i got no weed no phillies or no papers, plus im a rapist and repeated prison escapist
na serious though imma test it out now did you send me a link or is it on OP? im burnt lol
as for the boot logo images, they MUST BE the exact same name as the originals, and the same exact amount of images.. (rle files) im trying to figure out how i can change these values and possibly the fps as well since the optimus boot logo is meant for 12fps but it only runs at 8 for the esteem boot.img.. laaammmmmmmmmmeeeeeee haha

The only thing I would think would be a challenge is to match or get close to the battery life of #2

ya kno what... i just thought of something... mayyyyybe, posssssssssibly if you set the vm heapsize for your device back up to 96 or maybe even 64 than the reboots may stop for you guys... the speed kernel is legit pure stock kernel (zimage) and only edits to ramdisk are minfree values.. so honestly if the device dont like speed than it dont like stock LOL.. have you ever tried playing with the vm heapsize?? it's a build.prop adjustment.. #2 it's currently set at 48
i believe someone mentioned adjusting it and it seemed to fix a lot of there problems... i personally like 48 it good enough for me cuz im not a heavy user.. 32 is supposed to have the BEST results but those 'results' are over 4 years old and not device specific.. so who knows now-a-days...

Can anyone tell me is messGing working on beta 1.04?
Cuz mine sure as hell ain't workin anymore after wioe and flash of 1.05
nope messaging not working but in /system/root/ its their, so im guessing the permission is set wrong. But easy fix just pull the mms, from any theme/rom of your choice and put it in the .zip rom and Walla Magic.
Alrighty ladies and genitals....
I need your help here.
Top 10 reasons a system app (Mms.apk) will not open. Ill go first :
1) improper permissions
2) apk not signed properly
3) wrong system
Apk is installed to system/app during rom installation, but will not open.
If another rom is installed prior, and you install dvr afterwards (which replaces the Mms.apk) everything works fine.
Wtf
Missing dependencies?
Check the logcat for what is making it crash. It is likely looking for a file and cannot find it, since you mentioned it works if it's flashed over something that was already there.

Viewing logcat make my head want to explode.
Every two seconds moved to state USB unplugged which I think is a whole mother problem.
I suggest you use filters when using logcat, or pipe the output through grep if you near a linux shell...
should make it somewhat more manageable.
Only problem is figuring out what patterns to filter/search for...
