Default [REF] THE Battery Calibration Method

ok, this is not MY work or research but it's something I tested in my own way and it works 100%!!! SERIOUS THANKS to zeppelinrocks from xda, here is the link to original post, but i will provide MY personal method (which is basically the same) lol

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11803458&postcount=10

ok so here's what I did...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1: Charge device fully to 100%
2: leaving the charger plugged in, press and hold power untill power menu pops up
3: now select 'restart' and wait for device to power itself off
4: as soon as the device turns itself back on and you see the 'LG' logo apear, pull OUT your battery!!!
5: after the device shuts itself off put the Battery back in (still leaving the charger connected the whooooole time)
6: now after the 'power-off charging' screen shows up, press and hold power button untill screen goes blank, then just wait 5-10 seconds untill device powers itself back on, now your battery should be at something lower than 100, like 80-ish lol
7: charge fully and repeate if neccesary!!!
again huge thanks to zeppelinrocks for this method, i got like 5 hours back on my device thanks to him!!!
i didn't have to, i think he said it re-creates one at boot or something so you have to pull your battery out within 3 seconds of that lg logo.. "i think" lol
Just tried it and I didn't have to wipe batt stats and when I rebooted it was at 92%. Gonna wait till it charges back to 100% and do it again. Should we do this often or until we turn our device back on and still have 100%? What do you suggest o great LD?
Noticed something.. Without unplugging the battery just a regular restart drops the percent even plugged in.. Know a reboot has always drained an esteem.. Not trying to debunk this is or anything along those lines but it also will charge without the reboot back into the system and not cause the boot drain.. It reminded me of a trick i learned back in the ascend days.. Was called boost charging, jump charging, something along those lines.. Charge phone till full with phone off, remove battery, replace, let it charge again with phone off, repeat..
yeah that sounds about right.. but i mean the battery dont jump to 80 from 100 on a regular reboot with charger plugged in.. i would know because i reboot my phone all the time lol (testing purposes) but he also states in the xda post that the device re-creates the battery stats on boot, so im sure yanking the battery out before hand does help in some way to get a better reading of your battery
Yeah.. Tried a few different ways and only get results by pulling the battery on reboot.. Got one more thing to try after juiced again.. Delete batt stats and pull while running.. Edit.. Nothing..
Anyone else wanna try the last way mentioned? Think my batteries are super juiced at the moment from testing
Whether it is a placebo or not is irrelevant to me. I switched to LD-LG yesterday before I did this so that could be it but I lasted all day today and I still have 59% left over 15 hours (with little use) by this time normally my phone would be ether red with 10 or less % or off. Thanks again L.
or simply fully charge and reboot. Google itself has already debunked wiping battery stats etc.
though what you say may be true... i have fully charged and rebooted my device many times in the past in 'other' failed attempts of 'calibrating' the battery, and never have had results like this.. so maybe i miss-understood and your saying you agree with this method and NOT wiping batt stats lol, but if you think the idea of calibrating the battery is a hoax than think again my friend lol this definitely, without a doubt worked!! and i definitely have a good extra 5 hours of life doing the same ol song and dance every day with this baby lol
so again sorry if im mis-understanding the posts.. but i do have to defend myself from time to time even from the wrath of gods haha
The battery calibration app just deleted your battery stats. Google engineers have said doing so doesn't actually improve battery life at all.
This method seems to fool the phone into charging the battery to true capacity.
I've been noticing that my Esteem has been having horrible battery life. It'll die in about 6 hours considering its not being used as its not activated. I tried it on 2 different ROMs and I still get the same results. Anyone know what the problem can be?
I agree with the guy above me, I've tried a couple different things. With turning off 4g and using a conservative setting with the CPU and setting the max at 921mhz I can only get around 6 hours maximum. I've just learned to deal with it. I did notice my phone isn't sleeping all the time when the screens off though. Any ideas on how to remedy this?
this means you have some apps in the background running keeping your phone from going into full sleep mode....remove some apps that you don't really need and try to use a application killer app i use app killer pro and keep it on crazy kill kills app every 5 mins my sleep time when from bad to good after using this app.
This article references a certain Google engineer and offers a contribution to the conversation: Wiping battery stats doesn't improve battery life, says Google engineer | Android Central
As one of the comments below the article says, wiping stats affords other benefits. I'll continue doing it.
Just tried this, but as stated earlier, i had to wipe my stats first in cwm for it to work correctly . After following the instructions my batt dropped to 59%! Will repost my findings later today.
I didn't notice a change while I was using it, i think the battery savings are most noticeable while the screen is off. I was on my phone heavy yesterday, tons of 4g usage, wifi, texting, and a few calls, still had 30% after 8 hours so i think that counts for something.
Tried it again, this time deleting the battery stats. Restarted at 73%. Charging again.
Observation - I made two attempts 5 days apart. Both times I pulled the battery within a couple of seconds of the LG Logo. Both times I replaced the battery as instructed the phone would not juice up, I was bummed. I find that little vibration from the phone gratifying. (I've been scared before.) nonetheless I had to disconnect/reconnect. It booted up at 96% both times.
I just did it again and I was a little bit quicker to put the battery back in. The phone started charging on its own like it should. So now I am at 90%. Seems like it could be lower based on the other results. I'll try one more time. Then I might be open to just about most any suggestions that are reasonable. I'm interested to see what the boosting method will do.
The battery did pretty amazing when it was still rooted in stock, though it did have its dysfunctions. Something I must have done when I flashed to #2. I wonder where it went bad. I miss my 20+ hours of charge. I don't think it's the rom that's giving me only 5-6 hours battery life. Ack.
Wiping stats/ calibration was useless.
Did this and seemed to work at first but then after sitting with the screen off (not to mention wi-fi, 4G, and Nav also off) for 2 hours, it dropped to 27%, while doing nothing. So no im not convinced.
It either did nothing or made it wayy wayy wayy worse. Way jaja jk jk
