Hi. New to the forum.

I have a HTC Hero for the last few weeks and really happy with it. I friend recently got the Lg Eve and was looking at it. She wanted to turn off the Wireless Network to cut down on when it accesses the 3G network, but unlike the Hero, I wasn't able to find the Mobile Network setting under Wireless Controls.

We took it back to the Rogers store to ask if he sorta blew it off saying she didn't need to turn it off and help her installed a counter to track her data usage.

So is there a way to turn it off when it's not in use?

Press "phone" and dial: *#*#4636#*#* (4636 spells INFO)
This will take you to the testing menu.
Select "Phone information", and all the way down the bottom you will see "Set preferred network type".
WCDMA means UMTS/3G (also HSDPA depending on availability)
GSM means GPRS/2.5G (also EDGE/2.75G )
