Default Arm band?

Does anyone know if there is an arm band that fits the EVO for running and exercising?

I've been on an epic quest to find a running solution myself. I started this thread just before the phone released.

So far I have tried both a vertical and horizontal clip-on case attached to my waistband, as well as a generic arm band.

And by generic arm band, I mean one that is actually designed as an ID card holder/wallet. Why? Because I have yet to find an arm band big enough to hold the Evo. Ipod arm bands are generally way too small. I was able to jam my evo in to one, but it took me a couple minutes to get it back out. It might be viable for you if you do not use a shell case.

Also something to note: almost all arm bands have a clear plastic cover on one side so that you can see/use the device. I have the Zagg Invisible Shield on the front of my phone, and when I went running with the arm band, the invisible shield and the plastic from the armband stuck together (the humidity here probably was a factor!). As I pulled the phone out of the armband, the plastic on the armband pulled the invisible shield up off the phone, causing a couple huge air bubbles. I was able to squeegee them out with no problem though. Something to keep in mind.

I've yet to find a great solution, but for now I am using my generic arm band with the phone turned around (screen facing my arm) so it doesn't stick.

i have been trying to fit these everywhere i go it realy does look like it should fit snug in an ipod touch/iphone strap but you do not get the oportunity to try those accessories out anywhere, they are all in sealed containers and expensive so i have not yet tryed since i cannot just throw money at something without being sure. anyone else have experience with them?

I went into Best Buy yesterday, purchased an ipod armband, just out of simple impatience, went over the the service counter, and the person looked at me kinda weird... and asked

"Can I help you?"

"Nope I'm just opening this to see if my Evo will fit, and if it doesnt I'm going to have to return it..."

she asked "well you can if you still have the receipt"

"yes ma'am, I just bought it"

lol...

and no it was VERY! snug.... meaning a HUGE pain in the ass to get in and out, I almost ripped the case getting the phone back out, BUT I got my money back...

I hate Pest Buy. But they successfully put CompUSSR out of business. Sure is nice to eliminate the competition and provide even worse customer service.

Yeah I would figure if the armband would work for the HD2, it'd probably work for the evo right?

That's my logic. Looks like its neoprene, so it should stretch enuff to cover the millimeter or two difference in size from the HD2.

Great thread.

The HD2 arm band may be a good option for me. I too am looking for a armband for the Evo.

I ordered one off eBay a little while ago. It was $12.99 shipped.
Sport Armband for HTC HD2 Leo EVO 4G Sony Ericsson X10 - eBay (item 270594739991 end time Jun-19-10 10:58:46 PDT)

I'll try to remember to post up after I have it for a couple days and run with it. Quality is pretty important to me because I run just about every morning and run my phone with a bluetooth headset attached for music. Now that my phone supports Pandora, I'm REALLY excited to try it out.

Just bought one from the link above. Go to ebay and search for "Sport Armband for HTC HD2 Leo EVO 4G Sony Ericsson X10."

I've added email updates to this thread, so when I get the product (about 6-14 days) I will update my review.

I followed the threads from the other sites to find an armband. They recommended iarmband Universal fit.
Amazon.com: UNIVERSAL FIT iArmBands Arm Band for any full size MP3 player, iPod…

I just got it, guess what? IT DOES NOT FIT AT ALL. Let alone evo with a seidio case!

Talking

I run several times per week and also wanted an armband to play my music and also run the stopwatch app.
I also ordered the one from the link above from ebay. I was NOT happy with it. Uncomfortable and cheaply made. A waste of money.
Further googling turned up another model and I bought this one: - Hold-a-Phone Smartphone/Blackberry/iPhone/iPod Jogging Holde
I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and am quite happy with it. Worth the money. Hope that helps.

but does this one doast to be, or at least seem to be sweat resistant in any way? i seems like it might be a big wash cloth who will soak up sweat and ruin the machine.

Ordered the one from Hong Kong and it's fine for me. I wouldn't say it's top of the line quality, but it's not bad, and it's 12 bucks. Took it on a 30-mile 2-hour bike ride today and no problem w/ sweat soaking through. The only slight concern I have is that it's a fairly tight squeeze getting it into the pocket, but the fabric stretches so just have to be careful.

Not sure exactly what you mean there. It's neoprene, it's supposed to stretch.

Anyone ever look into Tune Belt?

I have always like a belt better than an armband when working out. Armbands twist and aren't comfortable to me in doing arm exercises. I have a cheap belt for my nano that I use not but plan on getting one of these once the bluetooth headphones I want come out.

Haven't figured out which one will fit the best......

Title - The Original Tune Belt neoprene armbands and belts for iPod nano, iPod touch, iPhone, iPod classic, Mp3 players and more.

I need to get an arm band for my Ipod because it keeps falling out of my bra when I'm doing cardie. I want one that keeps it secure on my arm (ie; minimal shaking, no spinning or sliding down) and has storage for extra headphone wire.

Its just an update to the Jaybird listed before, you mentioned it was too expensive. The new one looks like it will be more money.

I got it. I love it. It's a little snug of a fit, and after I've sweated profusely for 45 minutes the wet fingers I have make getting it out of the case a little tough, but all in all it's a great deal, even though it took a week and half to get here.

EDIT: If your hands aren't soaked with sweat, you can also use the phone in the case through the plastic window.

I got my case a little over a week ago. It took 10 days to arrive from Hong Kong, not to bad considering.

I took the case with me to Colorado last week and used it while biking over the course of several days. It seems to be holding up well. It is very snug, and I have taken it in and out of the case probably a dozen times now and it is holding up well.

On the note of the idea of attaching it to the stem of my bike, that didn't work. The way the velcro lines up you need something with roughly a 4'' diameter in order to secure it to. My arm is barely big enuff, but I'm pretty lean. I think I may try rigging up a pool noodle over my stem to compensate the size and see if it will fit.

You can work the screen just fine thru the protector. You can hear the speaker, but its pretty muffled thru the neoprene, I might cut a hole for it to play thru so I can listen to the speaker while riding.

Overall I'm happing with the 12 buck purchase.

Those of you that have purchased the arm band from Hong Kong...do you think this armband would be ideal for running too? I'm looking for a good armband for cardio at the gym (treadmill, elliptical, etc). I'm a bit concerned that jogging/running would put too much stress on the phone and the shaking/vibrating from it would have bad effects.

I'm also using mine on the elliptical and for jogging. The way I see it there are no moving parts and it's actually less "bouncing" around with the arm band than carrying it in my pocket.

Thanks, nbm. I just ordered mine from Ebay. I'll report back once I receive it hopefully in the next 10-14 days!

I ordered one of these from Amazon for $21.60 after shipping. It came in last week and I ran with it for the first time this weekend. I hate running with arm bands. I got used to running with a belt last year when I was training for a marathon (for holding gels and stuff). I had several big concerns before using the belt, which I list below followed by my actual experience with it.

It would be too big and bounce around. It's definitely big because it has to fit the EVO, but it's not intrusive at all (like I feel most arm bands are). It definitely doesn't portray the "cool" factor, though. I was thinking of wearing the EVO in the front like a belt buckle and having it scroll "What's crackin'?" like Tom's belt buckle in Parks and Rec. Anyway, it did not bounce at all. After a few minutes of wearing it, it's barely noticeable.

My phone would get drenched in sweat. The belt does not fully protect the phone. The corners pop out of it a little bit. Even if it did, the neoprene is only water resistant not water proof. That being said, my phone was bone-dry at the end of the run. I only ran 3 miles so maybe it wasn't the best test, but it was in the mid to high 90's during my run. I was sweating. Trust me.

The phone would not fit in the belt. I'm using one of those frosted TPU cases and the phone fits in there fine. It's a little snug and getting it out when I was all sweaty was a pain, but I liked the way it fit.

I would not be able to use the touch screen. The touch screen actually works really well. Touching to "click" and sliding to "scroll" were both easy and responsive. Here's the downside. The way I had it in the belt, I could not hit the four bottom buttons. I think I had the phone in upside down, but if I put it in the correct way, then I don't think I would be able to see the notification bar at the top. But that way the buttons might be able to be pushed. This was the only major downside that I found.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

By the way, for all your runners out there, I found the apps Endomondo and Tasker to be great together. Endomondo will record your time, distance, pace, etc. and upload them automatically to their website. Tasker can be used to turn on GPS, turn the screen on full brightness, and turn off the screen timeout automatically when you launch Endomondo.

I really like the armband and it seems to fit the phone very securely, BUT it's next to impossible to get in and out of the case.

Found a thread over at AndroidCentral regarding armbands. It seems like many people over there are getting SPIBelts and highly recommending them. They don't have a "window", but apparently they don't bounce around, are hardly noticeable, and if you get the water-resistance version, it protects the phone from sweat. I don't own one yet, but I am putting in an order to try it out.

I cut the opening on both sides to make it a little bigger, and it's not hard at all to get it in and out now. I also cut it where the headphones go.

Looks at post, looks at username, looks back at post. Makes this face.

Right now I am cramming mine in an old-school Nike Ipod case that is neophrene so its quite stretchy but I do need to find something better.

though I haven't tried it (and dont even have my Evo right now, as I only had it for 1 day and HTC has had it now for 3 weeks)... I would imagine some Zune case would work, my old zune was a monster and much bigger than any Ipod so the cases might work better for the Evo

i have the only one named evo arm band from ebay/hong kong. actualy is developed to the propper dimmensions. even fits with a rubborizedcase. but has very little stretch to it. i only used it at the gym once on an arms day last week and my bi's hurt soooo bad. bloodflow was constricted and i had marks on my arm for three days. if you never do arms than i totaly recomend this. basicly just don't use it on arms day lol

do you have the link where you bought your armband? I search on ebay and there are about 3 different armbands, which according to them, will fit HTC Evo 4g.

The what on work greatly for my workout regiments. It is snug getting it in and out but that keeps it sturdy imo. I jog, shoot hoops, and jumprope with it. It is also a tight fit around my arms yet the phone stays details after a 5 mile run. It works well for me, especially for the price. It is cheaply made but it just works. Touch screen works nicely as well.

Forget the armbands; I just received my SPI belt on Saturday and have ran with it twice now, and I must say this thing is GREAT!! Spoke with the sales guy, Kevin, over there and he made sure I got the newest "Water-Resistant" model that worked best with the HTC Evo.

I highly recommend checking SPI Belts out, I'm glad I got mine.

Does calling them work because SPI does not respond to emails!
I don't even have my EVO yet, waiting on the release to employees, but I will need something to run with when I get it. This SPI type belt seems to be a good compromise.

I had a response from SPI to my email within 24 hours. I submitted my email via their web site, but you can try emailing them directly at customerservice@spibelt.com.
