Default Avoid the Scosche Flipsync.

I ordered the Flipsync direct from Scosche after reading a about it here and there. It does not work as advertized. Don't get it if you want to use it for any type of data connection, which pretty much makes it useless.

I always travel with my laptop, and thought this would be the perfect accessory for my Evo since I tether frequently using PDAnet. One less cable. Several actually since I have a camera and portable printer that use mini usb.

In short, it doesn't maintain a data connection. PDAnet will disconnect after seconds or minutes, if it successfully connects to begin with. Transferring files means corrupt files, should they make it at all. The male usb end of the keyfob looks to be the culprit, being a poorly-shaped plastic square. Bordering the top edge of the plug is a tall lip of plastic that probably shouldn't be there and is responsible for the alarming difficulty of plugging it in. I worry that I'm going to break the usb port on my laptop, it's that tight a squeeze. I want to shave that off but considering I paid $20 for this thing, I'm just going to ask for a replacement or refund.

Can anyone recommend a compact cable that definitely allows for data with the Evo? I try to bring as little as possible with me to work and want to keep it that way.

Agreed, this could easily sell on ebay for $2 instead of $20.

The EVO has a micro USB connection, so I am impressed that you got it connected at all !!!

I have the flip sync by scosche. In fact I bought 2 one for my ipod touch and the other one is usb. It has BOTH micro AND mini usb connectors on it. I've never tried using both at the same time (don't think that would work), but it works great for both the micro and mini. The cable is REALLY short, but this unit is really small and can easily be thrown in a computer bag and not get tangled/caught in anything.

I love it! If it was cheaper, I'd have several. I bought it off amazon for about $10 or so.

Why not just grab a 1 foot usb cable? or bundle up a 6 footer into a 1 footer....

I've got multiple 1' aftermarket cables that I have to carry around. That's what I don't want to do. I know it doesn't seem important to most, but when you are on the road a lot and every little thing adds up. I hate sorting through cables. Frankly I hate cables at all, and can't wait for improvements and increased adoption of wireless charging and data transfer.

You can in fact use both the mini and micro usb connections at the same time for charging two devices at once. But as I said in my first post, it won't reliably maintain a data connection no matter what configuration and device I try. Is your male A usb connector a ridiculously tight fit when plugging in?

Frankly I think thats a private manner and I find you quite rude for asking me that.

lol no... the phone is very easy to hook into as well as my laptop. I've got 3 different cables for the phone and they all easily pop in and out and stay firmly in place when plugged in. The cables range from the stock one that came with the phone to a cheap GTMAX cable from amazon for $1.99.
