Default Some questions about SGP covers

I got my Commuter in the mail today and as usually I totally effed the screen protector installation.

I decided to order a Steinheil as I've heard how great they are for quite a while.

Has anyone used the full coverage shields from them? Do the side covers and cutouts look out of place at all?

I don't really need the complete coverage as my phone will be in it's Otterbox case all the time, but if they're nice I'll get one just for the added piece of mind.

I have used Bodyguardz on all my stuff until I got the Evo, then I decided to try the full body protection from SGP.........the screen protector is GREAT, but the rest of the kit is lacking in thickness and coverage. I think I'll end up ordering the Bodyguardz for this one and just keeping the SGP screen protector. Wasn't worth the $28

I go for quality and longevity. I want the smoothest possible operation, sturdy protection and clear viewing. Zagg offers none of these features. I used one for years on my Touch Pro. They have a massive orange peel effect, they grip your fingers when trying to slide over half the time and they get discolored from absorbing skin oils. (pull one off and look at it after a few months of use.... gross!)

Also, I have absolutely no desire to swap out my screen protector every month... that's just pure insanity.

Awesome! Thanks for the great info. I'll just get the screen protector then and wait for a body kit later on when I can do some more research.

I want one that goes on without having to put on adhesive. Which one is best for that?

I use the Steinheil Ultra Crystal screen protector with the Otterbox Commuter myself...the combination is great for me. The screen protector is easily the best I've ever used on a phone (and I've had touch screen phones for about the last 5 years...so I've gone through many screen protectors). It does a great job at covering the face of the phone (and the Otterbox takes care of the rest). The Ultra Crystal does get smudged a little bit from fingerprints...I've heard that the anti-fingerprint screen from them is also good. My only concern was that it would dim the screen a little bit, and I already keep my screen brightness pretty low to conserve battery.

Anyway though, I think you'll be more than OK with just the screen protector as long as you're still using the Otterbox.

I went ahead and ordered the Crystal screen protector. I thought about the anti-fingerprint but reviews I read said it fuzzed up the screen just a bit. After seeing the anti-glare sheen on the Sprint screen protector which wasn't supposed to blur the screen, I decided I'd like a Crystal better.

How easy are they to apply? Like I said I'm terrible at applying these things. I completely screwed up the Otterbox screen protector application. Everything looked crystal clear and clean but there still managed to be three huge pieces of dust in the middle of it...

I would suggest to take your time and have everything by you. If the area is particularly dusty, then move to a different area. (I did mine in the bathroom...plenty of light and less dust) I give the screen a really good cleaning with some lens cleaner and lint-free cloth. Then it's simply a matter of following the directions.

There's really no "right" way to install it perfectly, and getting it centered is a matter of patience and a little luck.

My anti fingerprint model went on easily and quickly, I did it right before work and I wasn't late. I am disappointed with its durability though, after three weeks it is so scuffed up that it is almost useless. I had a Zagg on it for two months that didn't have a single blemish. I think their may have been two protectors though.

The SGP Crystal cover went on flawlessly.

The only issue I have is after a few days of use the rubber border on my Otterbox Commuter has pushed the bottom of the protector up from the surface of the phone a bit so I have a half bubble on the bottom edge.

I'm going to take it off and try again with the second protector and place it a little bit farther down so there's no edge/edge contact between the cover and the case.
