Default Solar charger, external battery

I am planning on getting the EVO come June 4th to replace my HD2, and I am wondering if there are any solar chargers available on the market for this unit. Since I will be having a case on the unit, I dont want to be having to open the back cover all the time to replace the battery whenever its dead.

maybe a good external battery backup might do the job.

any ideas?

Solio looks weird and funky but i've heard good reviews and they charge fast(er) than this Scosche one i got. Amazon.com: Scosche SolBAT II Solar Powered Backup Battery and Charger:…

It's only $20 also and can be charged by USB too (1500mah) which i prefer because if you want to charge by solar, it takes a whopping 4-5 DAYS! to full charge to 1500 -_- but for a 1500mah backup battery with solar capability, it's not too bad.

Other than for extended stays in the wilderness, why would you buy one of these?

Takes days to charge and is weather dependent.

It seem that for the cost and size/weight for almost every scenario you would be better off buying a few AA Eneloops (Amazon.com: eneloop Power Pack Kit: Electronics) and the iGo powerXtender (Amazon.com: iGo powerXtender Universal Battery Operated Charger:…) and carry that, maybe with a spare set of batteries or two.

Am I missing something?

I ordered The Solio Rocsta Hybrid Charger on Amazon. Hopefully it will work well with the EVO.
June 4th should be the day that a sprint rep will call me and make me an offer to switch over. -

Solio Solar Charger Product Comparison Chart

The Solio Mono can be charged in 17 hours, and larger ones can be charged faster. Also balance the battery capacity with the charge time too - a couple models take longer to charge because they hold more juice.

This isn't something that's meant to be used on a daily basis, but every now and then, to give you some extra juice.

And it's eco-friendly. There are some tree-huggers out there who would appreciate using solar power. It's a nice little backup to have and that's all.

I keep waiting for the Solar power technology to improve to the point that a solar panel is built into the back of the phone for built-in charging or topping off. This would work great on the dash of a car.

edit:

Appears we are getting close...

Another option would be a phone that charges from motion like a lot of watches do.

hmmm sounds interesting. phones will need bigger batter slots with that though lol... depending on how efficient a kinetic charger can be though... that is the question... technically speaking alot of "energy" goes into shaking a phone up and down just once or twice... if the efficiency is way up there it may only take a few shakes to completely charge your phone... i know that THAT is many many years away... but even %20 efficiency would be amazing as you walk you would basically be topping off what you may have used...

Default SunLeaf Solar Charger

I got back from hiking Cloud Peak in Wyoming and I brought my EVO with to watch movies at night. I bought the solar charger with the idea that I would charge up it's internal battery during the day and charge my phone at night. It worked out great and it's got a really neat design as well.

I have a coupon for $15 off if your interested in buying one. Code: PROMOAA

lwestlie - I think it is ridiculous how you are trying to promote your own product by pretending you bought one. I am in the market for a solar charger and have been doing enough online research to see threads about how it is your company and here you are pretending to be a customer. It is very misleading for consumers and I have been looking for an actual testimonial from a real customer. I was very close to buying your product but after seeing how you're attempting to be sneaky, and no real customer reviews, I will be buying something else.

i guess it would come in handy if you are going on a few day hiking trip in the middle of the desert? or you're a park ranger that travels by foot?

they don't charge very well, or very fast at that. you're better off buying an external battery pack.

just my opinion.
