Default Ghost armor warning!!

For those going to put Ghost Armor on their phone. I have seen multiple reports of folks screwing up their screen because of the liquid applicator. Make sure to let the phone dry for longer then 2 hours after you have applied the body screen shield. The Evo TFT screen is very sensitive to moisture. I assume this is because of the gap at the bottom of the screen and the ear piece. If you start up your phone before it has dried all the way there is a good chance you will kill your screen.

Well i dont have ghost armor.... i had a best buy employee put on the zagg shield i bought there. I warned him about getting the screen too wet and the moisture indicator as well, well after he was done soaking my evo i pulled the battery cover off to check the indicator..... it is turning slightly red after like 30 seconds. i showed him and said, see this is what i was trying to warn you about. He said, " huh... the indicator is usually located more in the center of the phone" I said now what do we do, if anyone looks back there they will say i have water damage and not warranty my phone. He said that Best Buy will step up and make it right, he noted it on my reward zone acct. and also wrote on the receipt what had happened. Hope i dont have problems.

So all they did was write on the receipt that they got it wet? No offense, but if that was my phone i would have asked for a new one. you never know how much water actually got in there, and what kind of damage it may have caused. Also, if you try to take it into a sprint store for any reason, they will see that indicator and tell you the warranty is void. I dont think a note on a best buy receipt will be enough to convice them.

I asked what happens if i have trouble with it, and he says this is how they do all of the screen protector installs. I kindly told him to back off on the water usage when applying the screen saver. I checked the inside as best as i could for moisture but there was none that could be seen. Only the lower left corner of the indicator got damp and about 1/8th of it is "pink". I am not to upset because i trust the people at the Best Buy here, i have spent tens of thousands of dollars there over the last 2-3 years and they have always been great with any issues. However I was a little surprised at the amount of water he used to do the install. The guy said BB would provide a new phone if I had trouble because of this.

Oh... no offense taken....

Yeah I watched BB apply and Invisible Shield to an iPad when I was in their once. The girl doing it literally had the shield sopping wet, so much that it was dripping all over the place. I asked her how she kept from causing water damage, and she just said, "These are pretty water resistant actually." After she was done there was a giant puddle on the table which she cleaned up with her microfiber cloth. Ridiculous. After seeing that I would never let them apply a shield for me. Just because she didn't trigger the water damage indicator stickers doesn't mean there won't be signs of water damage internally.

On Friday, I installed the Ghost Armor with NO issues. I did not take off the battery. Using the bottle, I sprayed each side twice and applied. As matter of fact, I started using the phone within 40 minutes.

I was able to install the GA for my EVO without any error - it's really easy - just take a little patient so you can align it to your phone correctly... Been using GA since the TP was out - I installed GA on 10 devices already so it gets easy the more you try. I also applied it on the iPad which took forever because of the alignment - couldn't get it right so there won't be any air bubbles.

My best advice is to be patient & dont over spray, but dont under spray also...

I got a Ghost Armor, but had BB do the install - that way if someone screwed it up, it wouldn't be my fault. LOL The girl who did it did a great job and the screen wasn't even very "fuzzy". Still being careful though...

I was pretty careful... i installed my XO Skins a few hours ago now and turned it on just to check it out. AHHHHH it looks all screwed up! Ugh.

Like the entire right side of the screen looks like it still has water inside of it, and then from there over towards the left just past the center the whole screen looks like it has water but less... one area towards the middle bottom has some weird scrape looking areas of water under it where it looks like the squeegie might have messed it up after the water got down in there. ugh!

I immediately turned it off and will continue to let it dry overnight... i hope there isnt any permanent damage and that stuff all dries up! You can only really see it on the lighter screens... some of it does look ruined though

The water damage indicator sticker is 100% intact though i think...

As long as your screen doesn't go completely dark it should dry out. I would still go get a new one though. You shouldn't have any problems, just take the GA off and tell them your screen screwed up just randomly.

Its 9am, and the screen still looks the EXACT SAME... It has like 4 different levels of "damage" or "wetness" ... whatever you wanna call it. Some areas look a little darker, some lighter... along the edges its very smudgey and BRIGHT like light is bleeding through or something. If i tilt the phone certain ways it gets even brighter.

^^Unfortunately i didn't read into it enough before i decided to apply it... i watched the XO Skins video on their site and said HOLY CRAP and preordered one on the spot haha

Ok update... i called the local sprint repair center and he said that this happens sometimes, he even just cleaned up a phone that was completely covered in cat vomit and some got down under the screen somehow... basically he had me lightly wrap it in a towel and put it on the dash of my car to force it to dry up so that's what i'm doing. And it's working. Wow... prob gonna fry the hell out of my phone but at least if i have to take it in it won't look like i had water damage! haha ... all the scary looking sharp looking streaks and stuff that shot from one side to the other under the screen have mostly cleared up too. Right now it just kind of looks like big giraffe pattern on the inside. Before it just had several fat layers of water all over esp on the edges but it seems to be drying up now. Thank god.

YouTube - HTC Evo 4G Skin Protector, HTC EVO 4G Screen Protector, Sprint HTC Evo 4G Scratch Test XO Skins you must mean this one. It sold me too, very cool. I emailed them about this thread. They said if I do get water in it to bury it over night in a bowl full of rice.

I think I'm going to try Ghost Armor over Invisible Shield. I've used Invisible Shield in the past and I don't like the orange peel texture along with the stickiness. Ghost Armor seems to have a much smoother appearance. However, does Ghost Armor provide additional grip or is it slippery in your hands?

What about finger prints? Does one show less finger printers than the other? Thanks.

Use silica, better @ absorbing water

I would think all you have to do is lightly dampen the protector, you don't want it soaked.

That way when you go to squeegee it doesn't drip water into the crevices. Also, don't push down too hard when you squeegee. Apply light, even pressure.

I managed to get water under the glass while installing my invisible shield. Scary, scary stuff. I took a blow dryer to it. There's a small smudge between the glass and the actaul screen. All that and I hate the shield because of the texture and took it off.

I emailed them last night and got a reply at about 11;00 eastern. The guy looked at my tracking number and apparently it never made it to the USPS thing. Must be a problem with a bunch of May 27 orders. He said he'd ship me out another one this morning.

Try calling them. 480-921-3161.

I put mine on over the weekend, and was pretty simple and straight forward.

Not to be mean, but you would sort of have to be an idiot to drench the ghost armor in liquid before putting it on. It's pretty much common sense.

Received my Ghost Armor yesterday. I'll apply it this weekend probably. I don't think I am going to bother with the thin strips, just the large front/rear shields.

I am the person who applies the skins to co workers and family members phones all the time...They are always too scared to try.

My process is use water with a little dish washing detergent.
I dip my fingers first then peel the skin off the paper.
Dip the skin and then hold up so most of the water has rolled off.
Then I take my wet fingers and slide additional water off.
I place the skin and align.

This process has been very good to me. I have applied zagg, bse, clearfreak, and ghost armour to different phones. Getting rid of the excess water speeds up the drying process and reduces the water damage factor.

I installed my Ghost Armor a couple of days ago and had no problem.

As long as you take your time and only spray the film and not the screen you should have no problems. It is really quite simple. The name of this thread should be "Don't be an idiot and soak your screen when doing a wet screen protector install." There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Ghost Armor product.

I am extremely happy with my purchase it is an awesome product. Clear, smooth to the touch, tough, and fingerprint resistant.
