Default How to unroot?

Ok so I rooted my phone. Basically did it to see what it was like. I have nothing but issues. It is very sluggish and programs have been freezing.

So how do I unroot?

I'm trying to find out myself. I'm a n00b trying to learn and I think "unrooting" would be a good learning experience.

From what I understand, you just have to follow the same procedure, but with the correct zip file in the root folder.

Do you know where to get the correct file?

Just do a factory reset or if you did it with unrevoked you can just uninstall the apk

A factory reset will unroot the phone? Just want to make absolutely sure.

Please post back if factory reset indeed unroot your phone. I've been trying to unroot using RUU and everytime it hangs on the HTC boot screen.

What if I just did the update from sprint? I know they say you will "never" be able to root, but its just a matter of time.

Factory reset does not work. I downloaded the RUU and ran it how it was explained and I get an error half way through saying it cant read the phone because its not connected to the usb?

You need to flack the current sprint HTC Evo RUU, a factory reset will keep root.

Here ya go.

And if you get the 30% battery error then you need to manually put your phone into bootloader mode by powering on while holding vol down then choose reboot bootloader then run the RUU exe.

Here's a writeup I made on how to unroot the EVO. If all you did was run the unrevoked reflash desktop app, then hopefully my writeup will work good for you.

If i'm in the wrong by posting a link to my blog then mods please delete. I wont be butt hurt ... Just thought I could help.
