With Windows Mobile, HTC/Sprint took a while to come out with WM6.5 for the Touch Pro2 so i used MightyROM and it worked fine.

Is this the case with Android also? I think Froyo is already finalized and has been released for the Nexus One already, is it a matter of time before we see it with the EVO in the root community?

Official Froyo should be out between now and the end of September (Q3) for most devices hopefully. I have a uber stable version of Froyo working fine on my Desire, not sure if there is a ROM already available for rooted EVO's.

Froyo ROMs are already available. Not everything works though, specifically the cameras.
