Apologies in advance if this has been covered somewhere else. If it has, please point me to the correct post. Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to use Unrevoked to get root access to my EVO 4G. After running REFLASH.EXE the first time, the phone rebooted and Windows said it was looking for a driver. After it failed to find it automatically, an "Android 1.0" device is showing up under Other Devices in Device Manager. I assume the HBOOT USB option is not working because this driver is not installed.

I installed the SDK (r06) with no problem and I can use utilities like the Dalvik Debug Monitor and see the log. I tried point to the vista_x64 folder under usb_drivers but it didn't work.

Where can I get the correct USB driver for Windows 7 64-bit?

Mine just installed it but maybe you need to install HTC Sync for it to have the driver.

I would recommend *against* using Unrevoked as it gave me so many problems when I finally tried to completely root, unlock NAND, flash RA recovery, etc.

I had to spend so much time messing with it only to start from scratch eventually. Now everything works perfectly. My advice to you is just to use the Toast 2-part root method. Looks like a pain in the ass but it's nothing compared to the time you will waste if one of these automatic or 3-click methods doesn't do something properly.

Well, I wanted to get root access without wiping the phone. I ended up figuring it out with the help of another site.

There is a hboot driver.htm file in the Unrevoked folder that explains how to get and install the driver for Android 1.0 and it worked. I now have root access and can now tether wirelessly!

I have had the best luck installing drivers by just running the pdanet computer installer waiting for it to install the driver then I cancel the install so I don't have the PDAnet crap on the computer but I still have the driver.
