Default PLEASE HELP unrevoked doesnt complete root

please help. ive been trying to root my phone for a couple of days now and would not post this thread unless i desperatly needed help. I have and htc evo runing 2.2 and have download and installed the correct drivers for using unrevoked because i am using windows. when i run the unrevoked program i follow the steps it tell me and it works up until the last step when the phone is supposed to reboot and complete the rooting process. instead of my phone doing what ive seen that it should it instead reboots back to the home screen of htc sense and unrevoked stays where is says completing root. i left it for several minutes incase it just needed some time but nothing changed. I have unistalled htc sync and gone through all the proper steps. if anyone has any information for me it would be a huge help. THANKYOU

Great question, Gus. I think you'll get more help with that in the All Things Root area of the EVO forums, so I moved the thread for you.

Fwiw, I've had similar halts in rooting now and then, and the remedy was always to simply start over after doing a reset (syncing gmail, calendar, etc first).

I'm sure EVO root users will chime in. Best of luck to you; it'll get done.

I would agree with Frisco and start unrevoked again. For what ever reason sometimes I takes a couple tries to obtain root. The first time I used unrevoked its rooted first try. I had to unroot temporarily and when I went to re root the second time, it took 3 tries. So who knows lol. But yea try again.

Gus, have you checked your hboot to make sure it is not 2.02?

if not definitely try running unrevoked a few times...follow all of the instructions and you should be fine .

how do i check if it is 2.02..im confused because when i download the reflash package from unrevoked it does not have an hboot folder like shown in the tutorials. how do i know that i installed the right driver software? and if not where can i find the right one. in the tutorials for unrevoked it says that there should be a folder saying hboot in the package. no such folder exists in the download where do i find the right driver to install

First, find your hboot version by turning off the phone. Hold the volume down key and press the power button until the phone turns on (while still holding down the volume down key). That will take you into hboot, where you will see a version number. If it's version 2.02, stop reading here and either wait until unrevoked gets an update or read, read, read, read until you're comfortable with other methods.

If you're good with hboot (a version under 2.02), you can get the hboot drivers from here:

public:windows_hboot_driver_install [RootWiki]

Follow the instructions on that page. If you've already done that, another thing you may need to do is install, then uninstall HTC sync. That sounds stupid, but that's what I had to do.

Right, uninstalling it is in their directions, but I don't think they ever said it had to be installed at some point. I never had it installed, and I couldn't get it to work until I installed it, then uninstalled it.

EDIT: Of course, I just re-read the OP where he said he uninstalled HTC sync, so just ignore me :P
