Question Nandroid backup after wipe/system restore?

What's up guys? Just a quick question. If I'm in clockwork mod and do a wipe/system restore 1st will I still be rooted, 2nd will I be able to do a nandroid back up once the wipe has been done. I'm looking to do this to have better luck with a Rom. Thanks for all the help!

Just a little more info for you - if you wipe data, you will basically have a clean slate for whatever rom you are currently running as if you just installed it. It doesn't take you back to stock.
