Default For the 10,000th time I'm sure....rooting help.

Hey guys, I'm new to the EVO rooting scene. I was involved way back when the Droid was rooted but havn't rooted anything since. So I just got my EVO less then a week ago, and I want my wireless tether back. Here is where I am stuck, from what I've been reading the new EVO's can not be rooted with unrevoked.
Here is my phone info:
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.97.0000
MICRO-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMELC03_16ac
RADIO-2.15.00.09.1
Aug 19 2010, 14:29:08

If I read the other stuff right, I'm under HBOOT 2.2 so I can root???
So lost.

Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

You should be able to root with unrevoked.

Yeah, you have hboot 0.97, which is what i have. you should be ok.

When you go to settings>about phone>software information>
What is your software or build number?

Anywhoo you should be able to root when you use unrevoked.
Have you tried it yet?

Ok..you should be good to go. Just follow the steps in the guide and good luck
There is a newer version of the hboot (its 2.xx) and that cant be rooted. You, however got a 0.97 somehow, and that one is rootable because its what unrevoked is currently built to do. If you have anyproblems let us know.

Thats a great ROM. Im using it now, and i love it. Theres a lot you can do with it, and it looks and runs very smooth.
When you root, you dont HAVE to flash a ROM. You can leave it exactly the way it is, nothing changed. Its just, rooted, and able to tether and run a couple other apps that require root.
But, if you'd like, you can flash a whole new ROM and change the entire look and feel of your phone.

Just a side note in case you were interested, some people dont know that you can just root and leave it like the way it is.

I've been rooted for a month or so now and just flashed my first ROM last night, which is Myn's Warm 2.2 RLS 4. Once you get the terminology and all down, it's really not that complicated. Good luck!
