Default Questions about Rooting

Okay so I have a couple of questions before I root, I'm pretty sure I want to root but I have a couple of concerns. I am planing on using the unrEVOked method found in the rooting for dummies guide.

1: I have the lasted update on my phone and also have hboot 2.10, I know they say the new unrEVOked works with the new software but has anyone actually done it with the new hboot and software and have you had any problems?

2: If I have to bring my phone in for hardware issues (ie. broken camera glass) will I have to unroot my phone?

3: How long does it take and how difficult is it to unroot my phone incase I do need to bring it in for repair?

4: When you bring your phone in do they actually check your phone if it is rooted?

Thanks to everyone who will help me, and I know you will because of the great community here.

1) It should work fine. Worst case scenario is that you have problems and have to try again or maybe wipe data first. Of course, there are a number of things you need to check first. Just follow the instructions in the rooting for dummies thread and you will be fine. If you run into any problems or have any questions, just ask.

2) You should. They have every right to deny your warranty if your phone is rooted. It doesn't matter that a hardware issue has nothing to do with root. They can do it if they want, and mark your phone as such for future reference. A lot of times, they don't care, though. I still highly recommend you do it anyway. You're taking a gamble otherwise.

3) It's not hard at all to unroot. In fact, after you root, and you get more comfortable with navigating hboot and recovery, you'll probably find that unrooting is easier than rooting. It shouldn't take more than 10-20 minutes.

4) Well, like I said, sometimes they just don't care, but they *can* check. There is no yes or no answer as to whether or not they will. It depends on where you bring it and who looks at it.

Thanks the reason I ask is because I have a cracked camer lens and I need to see if Sprint even fixes that for free, because if they don't I was going to root tonight because you cant even tell the crack is there when you take picture but I don't want it to get any worse, but the repair man already left the store so I need to call back tomorrow. Although if it is easy to unroot I may just root and then when ever I bring it in unroot it.

Take it to a sprint repair center. If you have insurance, they will fix it for free. If you don't have insurance, it costs $35. The phone is damaged beyond repair, you have to pay $100 with insurance, and there is nothing you can do without insurance. Of course, a cracked camera lens is not a huge deal.

No problem. Sorry, what I meant was that it's not a big enough deal for them to replace the phone. They will replace that for you for free.

Very cool . Let me know if you have any problems with the rooting process once you do.
