1) It should work fine. Worst case scenario is that you have problems and have to try again or maybe wipe data first. Of course, there are a number of things you need to check first. Just follow the instructions in the rooting for dummies thread and you will be fine. If you run into any problems or have any questions, just ask.
2) You should. They have every right to deny your warranty if your phone is rooted. It doesn't matter that a hardware issue has nothing to do with root. They can do it if they want, and mark your phone as such for future reference. A lot of times, they don't care, though. I still highly recommend you do it anyway. You're taking a gamble otherwise.
3) It's not hard at all to unroot. In fact, after you root, and you get more comfortable with navigating hboot and recovery, you'll probably find that unrooting is easier than rooting. It shouldn't take more than 10-20 minutes.
4) Well, like I said, sometimes they just don't care, but they *can* check. There is no yes or no answer as to whether or not they will. It depends on where you bring it and who looks at it.
