Mad CM7 Market + Media/Download Issues

Hi everyone,

I am pretty new to the whole rooting/flashing thing, but I have been running my EVO 4g on CM7 (nightly 85) for about 3 days now. I downloaded and flashed the most recent G-apps, and restored all of my previous apps using Titanium Backup. I am pretty impressed by everything so far, especially battery life. I There have been a few problems that have really affected my experience with this rom..

1. Market (or downloads in general)- I have been trying to download new apps but my Market doesn't seem to work at all. Every time I try and download something, it just force closes. Also, it seems that none of my apps are connected to the Market, so I have no way of updating them... any thoughts?

2. Media- In addition to the whole Market issue, I noticed that every time I try and download ANYTHING, I get a notification saying "android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly"... This happens not only with the the Market/downloads, but sometimes happens for no apparent reason.

I think these may have to do with the fact that I backed up pretty much EVERYTHING using Titanium Backup, and restored them all, including the HTC system data and what not... but I am not sure why the Market is acting up...

I am sure these problems are related... As I said, I am new to the whole root thing, so any step-by-step help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

you should be very careful restoring system data as it might contain data from other roms and could conflict with your current rom. i would go back to a previous nandroid and use titanium backup and just restore apps+data not system data.

Yeah system data will get ya. Try wiping data for market and that media process if you can find it in titanium.

1) Since you used CM7, did you also flash the latest gapps.zip? If you did, read #2, if not, you can find the latest gapps here: Latest Version - CyanogenMod Wiki

2) Wipe ALL data, that is, factory data, cache and dalvic and then flash CM7 and then gapps. After CM7 starts running, dl Titanium Backup from the Market and click restore, menu, batch, restore apps + app data - NOT system data.

This should hopefully work.

if that doesn't work follow these steps

menu.settings.manage apps.all

go down to market and clear cache, clear data then forcestop and then hit back

find google services and clear cache, clear data then force stop

reboot into recovery

wipe dalvik and cache , reboot

I have fixed the market issue in cm7 this way on both my evo and the nook
