Default clockworkmod errors and other funny business

So,im using CWM version 2.5.0.7. Most of the time when wiping battery stats,it will just pause for over a minute until finally going back to the wipe screen. But it never says "battery stats wiped" or anything. And also i made a backup and it said error varifying MD5 sum or sumthing of that sort.Ive made other backups since then that have worked, but would like to know why its doing this.I since flashed CWM again through ROM MANAGER and it SEEMS to be a little bit better, but id like to know whats up.
Ive also noticed that other versions of CWM dont allow you to flash certain .zip files. Is there a "prefered" version of CWM?

Side note: is it safe to flash AR after having CWM and then back again?

ok so clockwork mod 3.0.0.5 uses a script called edify. most .zip files that you flash are mostly in amend. so the preferred clockwork mod is cmw2.6 it can support both edify and amend. amon ra2.3 is the one i use and it also can support both scripts. and yes can go back and forth with recoveries. howver the nandroid backups you make will not work with a different recovery.

not sure, but every now and then some nandroid files could become corrupt. i use amon ra and have never come across those kind of errors. i have seen the md5 sum errors and they are usually associated with clockwork mod. not sure why. you might want to switch recoveries. i also would make sure that if you are using clockwork mod to wipe, wipe and wipe some more.

Not 100% sure on the errors, like Ocn mentioned, the files could've been corrupt. In any case, it sounds like you're comfortable enough w/ your Evo to do things manually, so my recommendation would be to start using Amon RA Recovery. Overall, it's just a much more solid recovery and *rarely*, I mean *RARELY* will I ever have an issue. You can either flash it through ROM Manager (It's the "Flash Alternate Recovery" option), or you can find it here.

Unrevoked only turns off the security(unlocks nand), flashes CWM and roots your rom. After it is done with those things, it no longer has an affect on your phone.

I also switched to Amon RA 2.3 and have had no issues at all with it. Most of the dev community that I have seen recommends it.

Do you use Rom Manager for flashing and backup normally? If so, my suggestion would be to start doing it all manually in recovery and get rid of Rom Manager. It is buggy and has been known to cause issues as it is the front end of CWM. Doing it manually also makes you more comfortable with recovery if for some reason you are ever in the situation where your phone won't boot and you have to fix it manually.

After you've flashed Amon RA Mike, let us know how it's working for you.

I'm kind of sketch about trying AR after reading. Can I use rom manager to flash back to cwm if I choose to?or do I have to do it manually?

no,im sorry.i should have rephrased that..i meant to say,if i flash AR with ROM MANAGER,can i flash back to CWM WITH ROM MANAGER? ROM manager says that all functions of ROM MANAGER will be disabled if not using CWM..so my question is,can i flash BACK TO CWM USING ROM MANAGER?
and i ALWAYS use recovery for EVERYTHING except for flashing recoveries.. i just have never flashed a recovery manually to a Evo...only an optimus m..

Yes, you can use ROM Manager to go back and forth between recoveries.

Like mentioned earlier, CW/ROM Manager have been known to be a bit buggy. Do the alternative and flash the PC36IMG.zip at the link I referenced above. That's a more sure fire way.

I'm pretty sure if your phone doesn't have flash_image it can't flash in that manner. Could be the Rom didn't come with it some don't. Could also just be buggy Rom manager....

you can check recovery logs. so anytime you get an error somewhere in recovery you can move the recovery logs to sd card. and use any file manager to hunt it down and read it. however, it has to be in that same session or else it may not save it.

yep you can rename your nandroids backups. just do not use any unusual characters and do not use spaces. as for the lag not sure what you are talking about. can you give more details? when does it occur?

it will lag when clearing battery stats, while flashing the superwipe.zip..mostly just random times.it seems like if i do something in recovery, reboot and then go back into recovery then it seems to move like normal...and ill notice that the loading bar while flashing a rom will stop half way and not go to the end..but it DOES finish..just weird to me..
