Welcome to the "Energy" ROM thread !

This development thread is for my "Energy" custom firmware series for the EVO !

I build my ROMs with four main goals.
Eye candy ( I want my ROM to look great and for it to all flow together nicely)
Speed !!!
Smoothness, consistency and good aesthetics
Stability through private beta testing before public release
I preconfigure a lot of things in my ROM, because when I flash it on my phone, I want it ready to go. So, the ringtone, sms/email and other notifications to already be set. Doing it this way, makes for a nice ROM that's ready out of the box.

ROM Features

Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread)
Based on the latest HTC Sense 3.5 leaked ROM (runnymede)
CRT Animation + blue overscroll
Enabled GPU UI rendering
Blue highlights instead of green
Deodexed, zipaligned, tweaked
Extra Quick Settings
Improved SD card read ahead
Busybox + runparts, TitaniumBackup
Zipaligned
Zipaligns apk's at boot
A few HTC Apps removed, like HTC Navigation and some widgets
A lot of junk removed
Stock HTC Kernel
Screenshot by pressing Power and Home
Advanced Power Menu
Updated hosts file for ad removal
A lot more stuff... check the changelog below
Fast... Stable.. and GREAT battery life with the stock HTC kernel

So far, I'm liking the theme of this rom. If your sd card is partitioned, you will want to flash DT's beta 4.

Flashed custom kernel by mount/unmount data trick and wifi works great.

So are you saying that WiFi doesn't work in this ROM? If so what is this trick you speak of?

Wifi works fine.

If you decide to flash a custom kernel, you will have to do the mount/unmount data trick.

Boot to recovery
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Go to mounts, mount data
Flash custom kernel
Go to mounts, unmount data
Reboot phone

Anyone know if any of the battery and signal notification mods will work with this ROM? Also why does the "Personalize" button open the internet? Is there anyway to change that?

I have no idea regarding the mods of which you speak.

I understand that if you use a long press on the screen, that you can really personalize from there, and also choose which app you want in the normally personalize button location.

edit: if not, it may be in your settings somewhere to change. I saw that in one rom, it let you decide to choose an app for that spot and then let you pick it.

Its like that for every 3.5 rom. Just hit settings>personalize to personalize

Can someone post the pri/prl on this ROM?
Is it switched to sprint or still running on VZW? I'm hoping to see someone get one of these builds working on sprint towers soon!

i don't believe there's a way to change that right now. Remember that this is the first build from NRG and these things may eventually get resolved

Yup, sounds good...just thought I would ask. So far I am really liking this ROM seems smooth and fast. I have had great battery life so far. I just wish there was a way to 4G working in this ROM instead of having to re-flash a later version when it comes out.

Others may have a different opinion but I personally feel that 4G will never work on these ports until we have a Sprint phone with Sense 3.5. Again, just my opinion

Reading that Sprint by next year will move to LTE instead of Wimax, maybe ports with 4G will be easier to get working

It's a themed version of the runnymede and imo, in very good taste! Fast for sure but the only problem I've run into is getting a2sd running. For some reason, the normal darktremor's, a2sd reinstall, a2sd cachesd, is not working. But I'm not too concerned about space beacuse I don't have more than 35 apps installed so I'm right around 100mb Other than that though, it's definitely worth the flash

yes, all of the sense 3.5 roms will not have 4g working as they are ported from a verizon phone (runnymede). but everything works pretty good. i was on the earlier build and it was pretty good. check it out and let us know what you think.

This is a very pretty ROM, I really like the theme work in it. Only issue so far is it seems to take up a lot of space (I am used to AOSP and MikG which leave tons of internal space). Is there something I may be missing to free up some space? I haven't even restored my apps from TB yet.

Edit - Gonna try flashing DT and see if that helps. I'll post an after screenshot once I'm done.

You can partition your sd card. Btw I partitioned my stock sd card w/o issue. Keep in mind though IT IS STILL HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YOU HAVE AT LEAST A CLASS 6 OR HIGHER TO PARTITION. PARTITION AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I actually am partitioned, that is part of my concern with the space issue.

DT did the trick. A couple quirks so far. One, ever so often the lock screen is frozen for a bit until it does a refresh type thing. Also, browser speed seems slow. Otherwise it seems solid so far. I'll keep running it until that Ice Cream Sense ROM is out, that one looks too tempting.

Not to get too off topic but the new link is up.

This ROM says it has the Freedom kernel built in, just curious about the battery life from those who are running it...I sure like the looks of it!

Does anyone know if you need to have your SD card partitioned with this current version to be able to restore your apps from TB? I know some of these new 3.5 ROMs require that but I am using a 32GN card and really have no need to partition.

The Dec5 build does not have a2sd. You would need to flash Darktremors for a2sd. I'm not sure what you mean by restoring apps from TB? You should be able to restore apps regardless if you are partitioned or not.

In the dev thread on XDA it says there is a limitation on characters on sms, but you can use handcent I hear to split it if you need more, also there was something about not being able to send MMS? has that been worked out yet?

Is anyone running SetCPU with this ROM? Just wondering what settings and profiles you are using if so.

On the newer release, he reverted back to the stock kernel. I flashed chopsuey and I set the frequencies at 1190 max, 245 min using the interactiveX governor

Is that combo working pretty well for you? I'm wanting to flash this ROM, just waiting for most of the little bugs to be worked out...and it looks like he is moving right along....

I might be thinking of a different 3.5 rom but I think you can look at wallpapers through the photo grid or something like that.

I may be entirely wrong though.
