Solbadguy89,
It took me about a week to get it all roote and flashed but i got it done. Thank you so much for posting this info. My only question is can I upgrade the ROM without loosing the flash? I did the downgrade of the rom like in the guide said it would be easier and it definetly was. The main reason i want to upgrade to a different ROm is to improve my battery life as right now it only last like 3 hours and see it drain before my eyes. I even bought a new battery and calibrated it with no success.

Just tried to get one working, problem is the only way to get the nv items does not give them in txt form and trying to put them on the evo without being in txt form is not working.

I would say it will take more information.

Notsure question about zeroing out meid esn locations

Quote:

First you are going to want to know which baseband you are using. The gude talks about 2 of them but there are more.
The supplemental instructions are just spots that have had known esn and meid #'s found. I found that after looking through all of them I still had a few that I had to scan to find.

Oh and another thing the guide leaves out, You open QXDM and hit F4 to get memory viewer. In memory viewer you copy the number in 0x00fcad5 form it will then take you to the corresponding coordinate and if you see the esn or the meid you will click the first number/letter and hit 0 until the meid is all 00's
They will be back words. so lets say your pesn is 08 99 d5 fc this is made up and probably too short to be real anyway. You will find it like

FC D5 99 80 So you place the mouse on the first one then hit 0 be carefull you dont get over excited and 0 out other things, I did that and was having trouble with things I had to find and fix later.

Then after you verify your all 000's reboot the phone then using QXDM and the nv write from the video will work
I spent(for me ) an extraordinary amount of time just trying to find where to do the things as they did not document that very well.
hello i am a noob here...using QXDM when i input this 0x00FCD950:this is what it shows 75 A8 F9 1E 00 00 A0 00 DD D5 AD 00 E1 D5 AD 00
do i have to zero out all numbers starting from 75 all the way to the 00 or are any specific numbers that i have to zero out . thanks in advance. same question for esn ???

First you need to know your esn, and meid if you have not done so already use QXDM and put in the password it tells you, then type in requestnvitemsread meid, and requestnvitemsread esn
once you have those numbers, write them down so you can refer back to them multiple times, you will then see which numbers you will 0 out.

In your case listed I am guessing you will only do the 75 A8 F9 1E. that will probably be your esn. Well technically pesn you will see it listed as 1EF9A875 when you do your request esn.

First read, read and then read again because even after you read it you will still run into issues.
Second you will be downgrading your baseband it has the info in the guide.
You will need to switch your service to the cdma side, use the incognito for the best experience, as the guide points out.

and good luck

NOOOOOOO do not even think of such a thing. that is a great way to brick your phone if you try an evo radio on a evo 3d.

unfortunately i do not know much about boost and such. but here is a guide over at xda that might help. here is the link:
Htc flash to boost mobile guide [noob] - xda-developers. maybe you can post a question there as this is an evo forum. plus folks over in xda might be able to help better.

So after a succesfull flash to boost on my Evo 4G. I decided to finally try and flash a new Rom. Did a nandroid and flashed using Rom Manager to Mikg 2.1/3.0 sense. Worked like a charm.. no problems at all, still on the Boost network and Mikg Rom rocks. Im sure I will have more fun after playing with the settings tweaks.... Thanks for all your help again Solbadguy89...

Default MIED/ESN zeroing out ?'s

Thanks for all the info, great resource, I have been searching around for about a month now on and off, and just found this... Anyway, I am on the downsige of flashing the EVO 4g to boost using an incognito as my donor. I have written the nv, (NAM1/2) files to the EVO and am in the process zeroing out esn/meid #'s. I have zero'd 8 ESN and 9-10 MEID. after zeroing out all matching numbers from a list of know ESN/MEID locations for my radio(downgraded from 2.15.08.08 to 2.15.00.11.19) I rebooted my phone to see if anything had changed knowing that I still had some locations to find manually to zero out the rest, I noticed after typing ##786# that my ESN and both MEID #'s are different than they were originally prior to rebooting the phone. Also my phone number(that matched my donor & still does in CDMA), PRI version, HW version, SW version, is now scrambled with the odd characters similar to what you see in the right hand side of the memory viewer in QXDM. I made sure not to zero out anything that didn't match my ESN/MEID numbers, I am just hoping that once I zero out the remaining locations and finish the flash that all this will straighten out, is this a possibility?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for rambling just want to be somewhat specific.

Scanning memory worked like a charm... CDMA workshop when finished scanning gave me the address' not having to calculate them, I was able to copy and paste into QXDM and there they were. Although after zeroing them out I did have to restart the phone, and zero them again, a couple times until they were all zeros. Now it is flashed... Talk and text work, was getting error 16 msg, called sprint cs and they reset the settings now works again. Did have the 3g icon flashing after QPST reboot. Now I just get error 67. I did after flashing install the supersonic 4.22.651.2 deodexed ROM to get the wifi hack and vm setup. But since the ROM install I can't use service codes ##DATA#, or ##786#. When typed in it doesn't do anything. Wondering if I should re install the ROM.

I did deactivate my donor phone and activate a prevail I have, and left it over night. this morning I reactivated donor incognito only to get the same message(error 67), I then had to program the phone through there tutorial, phone reboot and was back on track. now just make sure nothing had changed I checked all current info on donor(incognito) with the info I had during the flash to see if anything had changed during this process, the only thing I found was that the AAA password for profile 1 had changed. i went ahead and copied and re wrote all NV, NAM, and edited and wrote the two profiles in QXDM to the EVO to compensate for any changes. Reboot still no data.

I did have the same messages come up on my prevail last night after deactivating my donor, but programming it using boost's previously activated tutorial the phone was getting data again. I tried to update profile, PRL with the EVO as I did with the prevail to no avail. Still not data. Wondering if I should just flash to stock rom and start all over.

Also I dont know if this is normal but when I write the the two profiles(0,1) to the phone in QPST I get the following errors:

NV_UE_IMEI_I NV-READONLY_S

Does this have something to do with it having no data?

Well I managed to fix mine. ##786# press menu press reset. I did hands free activation and update prl. Then I opened up qpst. Made sure my profile 0 was correct (I had to maek changes). Made active user 0 and write. I then had 3g. The error you see is normal. I saw some where how to issue ## commands from a terminal emulator but I can't find it aanymore.

I just checked my profiles and the active profile was 1, not 0... I just changed the active user to zero and wrote it to the phone, still no data. read the phone again 1 was still active. Only when I went back in to the profiles, re entered everything that was already correct, then set 0 to active wrote to phone, phone rebooted. 3G icon appeared and has been working ever since.

Still don't have MMS though, I did change the MMS setting's prior to flashing the ROM so i am assuming they are correct, just want to make sure since its not working.

I still am trying to figure out how to get the ##786#, and ##data# to work. They worked prior to flashing a new ROM.

Is there a way to maybe boot in safe mode to change these settings? I am giving this phone to my father so I just want to get all the bugs out before I do so.

I appreciate that What all is in that package? Am I able to just root and install the 2.15.00.11.19 radio myself on another rom possibly? Would that work?

Okay, just so I have this right, I root and install CWM, than install the rom, put PC36IMG in the root directory of my sdcard (holding volume down while booting) and that's it? Would it be safe to go directly to 2.15.00.09.01? Or should I do it with the 2.15.00.11.19 radio and than do what the guide says for downgrading?

[Edit] ugh, looks like those downloads are down too, the roms are on multiupload

Are you trying to downgrade your radio for easier access to your meid/esn locations?

Well, I'm about to get an evo, I'm trying to make sure I'm fully prepared to do this and make sure I understand everything, I would guess that the Evo would have a newer radio, possible it doesn't but I'd still like to be prepared for such. Either way, can't really follow to instructions word for word if there is no place to download (every) necessary file. Hm... Just asking for alternatives since there doesn't seem to be a download available for it.

When you are in EFS explorer you just drag the files you need to your computer. Then right click the files in efs explorer and select delete. When you are done editing, you go back to efs explorer right click and select copy file from pc. Select your file and click ok.

2.7 I believe. I just click on the file name in EFS and drag to an empty part on my desktop. If I try to right click and choose save to PC it crashes.

ok I unlocked the folders using the method in the guide but the guide then asks to put the files onto the desktop but the two files will not transfer. What am i doing wrong here???
More than likely it is because of S-On.

So I spent a couple of days thinking I was doing something wrong as my Evo 4G had problems randomly rebooting anytime I set it up, well turned out it was defective and I got a refund however I managed to flash a spare one my friend had and bought it from him in about 30 minutes a big portion of this guide isn't even necessary lol essentially what I did-
(didn't root or anything until after flashing everything and works with any radio)

1. Get the HA shared passwords etc such as in the guide and get my Evo 4G spc (did not flash nam files or anything) and did get all the same info the guide said to
2. ##786# reset the phone (to make sure NV items were appropriate sprint default)
3. Used the Evo 3D method of removing the MEID and changing it (it does work on the 4G)
4. Setup profile 0 (not profile 1 and left the set profile to default)
5. Setup PPP
6. Restarted and the phone activated successfuly to boost via hands free activation
7. Did have a problem making calls and texts etc but I just changed to a temporary MEID I found at howardforums in my boost mobile account and changed it back a few minutes later to the correct one and it works perfectly
8. Customized and rooted etc after the phone was flashed good idea to flash a rom in my opinion just because I wouldn't wanna accidently do an upadte or anything

I've been using the phone for about a week now and there has been no issue, flashing roms etc has no effect on the flash either. Btw I had gotten help from howardforums that forum is great.

I bought a doner incognito and an evo 3d rooted, and already flashed for boost on ebay. The seller told me to transfer the incognito to my account, and after activation power it off, pull battery, put it away, and use the already pre-programmed evo 3d. It was not this simple as I feared. After trying to place a call with the evo 3d I get a pre-recorded message saying "Your account could not be validated, please call customer support.". I have to use the doner as a primary phone until I can resolve the evo issue. My ebay seller is very slow to get back to me, so thats why i am exploring this myself.

Well that's not the exact error message I had received but anytime I turn on my incognito and than my evo again it says "Error number 16 switch 222" it seems accessing it from a different PRL right after another *seems* to cause this problem but idk. My solution was to shut off the incognitom change the meid on the account to a temporary meid and than change it back after a few minutes and it worked on my evo. I've heard that if you stay on the line someone will come on and just tell them you're having a problem making calls (give the info for your donor phone) and they'll call you on another line and ask you to make a test call. It was a pain finding a temporary meid so if you need one pm me and I can send you the one I used. There is a thread on howardforums with meids that you can borrow but like 99% of them are in use.

[edit] Scratch that the MEID I used for a temporary MEID is now in use :/ laaaame but here is a thread full of MEIDs you can try...

im kinda lost here, i do know that in the evo 3d phone info menu the userid and the meid are neither set to correspond to my incognito. i didn't do any of this work myself, i was under the impression by the person i bought if from that it ready to go. I did however know that this is the best place to go, short of having to pay someone else to do what i though may have, (and could very well be) already done.

Oh wow, so you bought a flashed phone that wasn't flashed huh? Yeah I'd be pissed. If it makes ya feel any better it could be a good learning opportunity If the phone was flashed the MEID on the Evo 3D should be the same as the Incognito.

yeah it sucks. It may have been flashed before as the evo 3d says boost on the carrier info line. But when i added the doner phone to my account it switched this info up and now the evo doesn't match the doner. I just need to know how to make them match. the root and flash is crippled, and i don't know where to start cause I haven't prepared for this.

Is there a step-by-step out there on how to use the Samsung Galaxy Prevail as the donor phone? I've seen some success in this thread with the Prevail as the donor phone, I just don't know how to dig all of the info out of it that I'd need for the Evo.

Well the main portion of the guide you need than is this (keep in mind you'll still have to go through part of the guide because you need to get the SPC of your evo via CDMA workshop)

Quote:

Round 6:
Follow these steps in exact order.
1. Download and install the QPST Build 366 of version 2.7 and the HxD, and the latest Android SDK from the following link: Android SDK | Android Developers
2. Put the phone in USB debugging mode by going to settings/ applications/ development and check in where it says USB debugging, also it is helpful to check stay awake so you can see the phone processes while working.
3. Go to phone and dial ##3424# to access Diagnostics mode the computer will need the appropriate drivers to continue, once installed move on to the next step.
5. Open your device manager from the control panel, and locate your com ports, expand the com port section and you will see the port for HTC DIAGNOSTICS.
6. Open QPST Configuration and add the new port for the HTC, then close configuration.
7. Open EFS Explorer from the start menu under QPST and make sure the phone is showing up then, Enter the SPC code and press OK.
8. Once the phone reads completely make a new directory named (open sesame door) without the parentheses and all lower case
9. After making the new folder locate abd.exe from the android sdk install folder and press: start, run and type cmd then press enter you will get a command prompt window that opens up navigate to the android sdk directory and type; adb reboot, the phone should then reboot if youve done as you were supposed to.
10. After the phone reboots read it again with QPST EFS Explorer which still should be opened, you will notice that the red no access circle has been removed from the nvm directory so expand it and go to the num directory, locate file 0 and drag it from EFS to your desktop and file 1943 the same way.
11. Open HxD and then open up the 0 file on the desktop it should be your ESN. Zero it all out and then save it, do the same for the MEID in 1943.
12. Back to EFS and right click in the area and click Copy Item File from PC, then select the new saved files one at time, it will write the and confirm it.

13. Go back to the adb command prompt and type adb reboot again, after reboot read the phone once again then with EFS and delete the (open sesame door) folder.
14. Reboot the phone one last time with adb reboot in the command prompt, when the phone reboots its done, dial ##786# to make sure there all zeros.

Round 9 (EVO 3D)
After zeroing all MEID and ESN locations, Reboot your Evo and Dial ##786 to make sure the MEID and ESN is all zeros. *Note if you reboot and your Meid and or ESN is still not zeros then you missed a file somewhere in memory and have to go back to step 6 and rewrite every file again.. This can be a frustrating step and not an easy one by any means but if you keep looking you will find it.
Round 10 (EVO 3D)

Now you can write your MEID/ESN of you Incognito to your Evo 3D, In QXDM type the following commands. (Replace the XS with your meid

Password 01F2030F5F678FF9
RequestNVItemRead Meid (this will display the current Meid)
RequestNVItemWrite Meid 0x00A0000000000 <-Meid/HEX ID from your donor Incognito/rant
RequestNVItemRead Meid (This should now display your new Meid)
RequestNVItemRead ESN (This should now display your correct Esn)
You are now done close QXDM.

Also keep in mind that the "open sesame door" directory actually goes on the phone via efs explorer, for some reason I kept messing that up.

well if i may ask one additional question., I followed along very closely, and I have working 3g data, but all outbound voice calls lead me to an automated message saying "Error number 16... a spanish translation, then switch 264" All incoming calls are going straight to voice-mail and the phone never rings.. I must be close if the data is working but what else is wrong? thanks so much for the advice..

I've swapped the esn from shift with the incognito already. Using QXDM and esn locations already found in a text file. I plan on doing the evo 3d , but I am confused on how you zero out the esns on there. I would like to completely understand the process before buying one.
You say drag the file and change the esn and another file for the meid....then talk about zeroing multiple esn and meid locations. Does this file write multiple locations ? Or are there multiple files that i need to write?
I guess I am confused because you write that we drag on file for esn and one file for meid, but then talk about zeroing multiple locations.

Htc flash to boost mobile guide [noob] - Page 3 - xda-developers
I have done this with prevail it will work!

I used another guide on XDA to start off for Epic4g. I then used the guide as you pointed out on XDA to get the Ha, and AAA password, then I read, and wrote NV items. That left me with no baseband version, or hardware version. I thought I was screwed! I read that I was officially bricked. I do not know if that helped to get it working, so do at your own risk. To fix the unknown baseband, and hardware version I finally found where one had same problem, and used odin to restore phone with Phone EFS Clear checked, and it fixed the problem of the NV file write. After that I used QXDM did all the steps, and it worked! Thanks to who helped give us this information.

Default Roaming on boost with Sprint phone

Should I have roaming....

I was at a place that I frequent and didn't have hardly any voice and no data.

Before my phone was converted to Boost Mobile, and I had my Sprint plan, I always had a little bit of service and data there.
