first off ics is only in pre-alpha stage so there is a lot of things that is not working. they are a few of them now but they are not stable roms yet.
as far as a rooting guide, i would use this: ROOTING For Dummies Guide.....the Gingerbread Edition. read the guide from head to toe before attempting to root.
and please feel free to ask questions.
