I've never read it so I can't link you to it. It's probably here on this site or over on XDA in the Evo 4g section. Try to Google it. In short basically what you need to do next is if you're rooted and have S-Off, download Amon Ra 2.3 recovery. Rename it to PC36IMG.zip. Put it on the root of your sdcard (/sdcard). Reboot to recovery. Make a nandroid backup. Power phone back up. Download your rom of choice, I'd suggest MikG or Tommeytomatoes Classic for Sense and Deck 1.3d for AOSP. Boot into recovery. Wipe everything EXCEPT the sdcard, batterystats only if at 100% charge. Flash rom and enjoy.

who the hell is this "the captain" anyways?? but i digress, have you read the rooting for dummies guide?(esp the one for the updated rom?) there have been many a successful person who have been able to overcome so many obstacles and have learned so much instead of the obligatory "now what... now what... now what" type of thing. Please dont think im being harsh or what not, but the guide is sooooooo user friendly that your question begs the, uhhhhhh question anywho, if youve already read it and still dont follow, please accept my apologies and continue to post questions (cuz youre damn straight that we will answer them and straighten out any confusion you might be faced with holmes!!!)

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!1
you do not have to continue to the captain's guide. you can still flash roms and such with what you have now. you can continue to the captain's guide only if you want to remove the watermark and fully root your phone.
as of right now, not sure how sprint is handling the evo's as they have now gone eol. so servicing maybe different now days, but a watermarked bootloader will void your warranty on your phone.

captain throwback has helped so many people here and over on xda. he has come up with a way to fully root the latest ota, 4.67 with s-off and no watermark. dude is amazing. he used to be all over xda, but i think he posts here and over at mik's site as well.

as ocean has stated you don't need to run the capt's method. You can do anything that a rooted phone can do. My Suggestions ire as follows.
When Sprint announced their first ever 4G handset at CTIA in March 2010, they dropped a bombshell on the mobile world. The HTC Evo 4G is a device that introduces a lot of firsts when compared to other North American handsets. This is the first Andr... Read More
