Overall, AOSP is lighter and easier on battery life. However, I dont like the barebones look of it and the need to set it up the way I want it. I want a ROM to look and run well "out of the box".
Also, theres always the bootloop of death in the back of my mind anytime I'm on AOSP. I boot into froyo at night for SBC charging

Agreed. I hate and I love the fact I read the post. When I had AOSP earlier I was loving it and no fear of my phone having to be on the charger just to last the day. But that bootloop thing scared me, lol. I keep an AOSP and sense nandroid for a just in case.

I find the whole this vs that kinda inaccurate myself.
Apple VS WINDOWS VS Linux
Yes all are OS but they do thing completely different than the other Apple and Windows want Users who are willing to give up Control to them while Linux lets you have it your way.
Sense VS AOSP really the same way. Sense gives you everything on a silver platter. The trade off is battery life. AOSP gives you nothing but basics and its up to you to make it work for you and look the way you want. AOSP is more work but that is neither good or bad.
AOSP is more geared for the one who doesn't mind looking under the hood and changing things around Sense is more for those who want to do a little bit of customizing and general tweaking. One is neither better or worse than the other. It really boils down to How will I use it? just my 2 cents anyways

True, I want GREAT battery life with general, moderate use, not just good battery life. But I don't want extreme basics like AOSP has. For me, it's lose lose lol but I'll get over it eventually
Ha ok. Well, the biggest problem most people have with switching from Sense to AOSP is the loss of Sense Widgets. If you use GoLauncher, the GoWidgets that work with it are just as good as Sense widgets. And even if you'd rather used ADW or Launcher Pro, Android Pro Widgets are pretty dang good too. I think that they are basically on par with Sense.
Another is the Sense dialer. Again, if you get GoContacts EX, it includes GoDialer which is basically the same as the HTC dialer. If you open it, the default theme is kind of ugly, so just hit menu and select "themes" and change to the dark theme. Functions exactly the same as the sense dialer, so you have T9 word prediction.
4G works, GPS works if you flash the fix, and it's easier on your battery. I don't know, what other sense features do you miss on AOSP?

That GoLauncher is pretty cool. You know when you load a new rom and you are trying to populate the screens with apps, how you have to pick one at a time? GoLauncher pops them all up there and you can check the ones you want on that page and voila, they are there!

Okay, so I was reluctant to use Go Launcher on my phone as it used to lag on my Sense ROMS, but I restored an AOSP rom and installed it. It looks like (including the locker) ICS. I'll probably install the keyboard as I hate the keyboard on AOSP roms
I like my bootanimation with sound so that's the only reason I'm not on AOSP. If anyone knows how to put sound on AOSP, particularly CM7 then I would switch, again.

To me a nice mix of Sense and AOSP would be one of the Senseless Roms like Tommy Tomatoe's V.0.0.5 Senseless.
I've just recently flashed it and like it alot. It feels very AOSP but has the Sense Dialer, GPS that works, and very good battery life.
While I've never used the sensless version, Tommy's classic is a great ROM. Fast, and great on battery life. I'm waiting ever so (im)patiently for his next update
He even includes the AOSP contacts and mail apps so you can choose which one you like.

Rxpert, Is his next update Version 6 or would it be 7? I see on XDA it's posted as 6 but I don't see a DL link in the OP. That's why I decided to try 5 Senseless.

V0.0.6 is the current one.
His next update is estimated to be out within the next few days and It will either be numbered v1.0 or 0.1.0, I don't remember. Its called Supermagic.

I havent run MIUI in a very long time so I don't even remember what your asking for. However you could just flash and snoop around a find out what it is. If you don't have many apps to go through it will make it much easier to find.

Yes, I use this as well and use the AOSP options you mention. Just a great ROM, battery life is killer and it will tide me over until the ultimate ICS ROM is developed.

I use Warm 2.2 (sense based froyo ROM) and one of ziggy's kernels for SBC charging at night. It can be done with AOSP as well but I prefer staying off of AOSP if I can.
In the morning I boot back into my phone ROM of choice before I go get in the shower.

On Feb 7th he said he would try to have it out in a few days. On Feb 9th he said he was going to take a little time off for family and the next time we heard from him it would be released. Today he said he would start work on it again
I'm betting we'll have it sometime this week. My prior statements about it coming out in the next few days were based off of his Feb 7th Statements.
I'm too busy with school to keep up with all the threads over on XDA for the most recent gossip.
Hell, I made most of my posts today from the research laboratory in between experiments.
