I don't know what it is about my phone but EVERY time I try to do a script tweak (V6, recently Smurfed Out, etc) or built-in tweaks (MikTweaks, Cyanogen) or even change the font, it doesn't like my phone. It'll wipe cache and dalvik and it just hangs on the bootloader screen so I can't ever go back into that customization and have to restore a nand. I don't understand this at all. I follow every guide to the letter and it just doesn't work out for me.
I don't get how the OG is so customizable but won't stick on my phone. The best things I can get out of the phone are all Sense 1.0 based ROMs. AOSP lags for me coming from Sense based (countless people say they fixed theirs or it never has lagged for them) even when I OC and use balanced governors it's still slower than what I'm used too and anything higher than Sense 1.0 acts screwy on the phone.
This has been happening since I started trying different ROMs. I don't want to leave the Android community but it's making me want to switch to another OS (clearly the oh-so-easy iOS). I just want the customizations that I try to implement to work the way they're advertised without screwing up.

Every phone acts differently.
Moving to iOS is not going to be the answer here. You lose every bit of customization ability when you go to iOS. Try it out if you want, but I have a feeling the walled garden approach is going to leave you begging for android again.

I know. That's what I'm really feeling like doing. Not even having the option to tinker with anything and still not being able to do much even after a jailbreak.

i know you talked about it..but have you tried reloaded yet? there is absoluetly no need to tweak it whatsoever, and I am running great underclocked to 576...give it a shot!!

Honestly, I don't mess with any scripts at all, ever. No v6, no smurf, nothing. CoD tweaks at times, but sometimes I don't even set those up unless I know I'm going to stick on a rom for awhile. Honestly, I have seen v6 to not help anything, and smurf has been known to cause issues for some. Are you running task killers, OS system monitors of any kind? I am pretty lean on what I run. In the top left notification area (where ongoing processes are monitored) I never run anything.
For fonts and stuff, that should never make your phone hang at the boot screen. If you're using fonts from the flashable zips section on XDA, beware because if you try to use them on something like ICS, your phone will hang. The ICS font is Roboto, and all those fonts are set up for DroidSans, which is the default Gingerbread font. Use either ROM Toolbox pro (if you have it) or Font Installer (it's free, and made by the same developer). It works for me on both ICS and on GB without any issues.
A stock setup should run pretty clean. My last question relates to undervolting. I assume you're not doing anything here right? Some phones are really picky when it comes to undervolting. The latest CM9 rom by Team Dirt is undervolted by default, and it wouldn't even boot on my phone until I removed the undervolt script built into the rom zip file. You could even try increasing your voltage by 25 mv to add some more stability to your phone. You can use System Tuner to do this for any kernel that supports HAVS voltages. It's free on the market.

I tried it. It was nice I must say. Fast right out of the box.

Don't give up!
I stopped running task killers and system monitors after I read an article about the memory management in GB. Pretty much I never used one on my EVO lol.
The font thing was built in to MikG 3.11. I changed it from the tweaks app and it just froze and wouldn't reboot. That never happened to me on MikG.
My phone is pretty stable when its UV and can safely go to 1036 on any kernel. I want to try raising the voltage just in case its even more stable. The mason kernel is UV to "lee standards" correct?

I suggest you try AOSP again and use decks Rom. It is so light it goes blazing fast oc'd to 1113. Even 1076 is great.

I agree with mizz. I have never put in a script. I have heard wonderful things about them but I have also heard negative things about them. So I just did with out. I think with the kernels the way they are now and with the ROMS they way they are now there really is no need for all those scripts.

Many devs are now "baking in" scripts, so you need to make sure whatever script your trying to include isnt going to clash with any others. That was most likely your issue with papa smurfs.

No, I did NOT flash a new kernel or anything that would cause a reboot or stuck screen.
Any suggestions?
what tweak was it exactly? i never really liked running scripts and tweaks anyways. just over and underclocking my phone was good enough for me.

The one built into Mik's ROMs. MikTweak or whatever it's called. It has all those options. The only one that seems to be causing me hell is changing the font. It still didn't restart either....................

huh not sure on that one then. has this happened more then once? try and wipe dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps.

Yeah don't use MikG
On a serious note It is so hard to say what is going on. We are givin the information that is known to you about your problem and sometimes it's the stuff we don't know that is the issue. All though this would be a major PITA, maybe start fresh with ROM then add apps (No DATA) You can restore sms, call logs, and voicemails if you need them. just no app data and then when you go to use the tweaks program do one tweak at a time(Reboot between tweaks). I don't know if this will help you figure out the problem but it seems to me it would be a step in the right direction

If you flash a Mik ROM you'll see MIKTWEAKS (I believe that's the name...I currently can't get into my phone because this *explicit* font portion of HIS tweak doesn't work anymore) in drawer...

Yea I'm never using Mik's ROMs again. This NEVER happened before.
Anyway, yea, that would sound like the plausible thing to do but I'll just pass on this all together. Twice messing up is too much.

i got stuck in a boot loop changing the font on mikg3.11 once as well..I just reverted a nandroid and called it a day...if you want a sense rom, go with tommy's classic..otherwise AOSP!!!!
PS just flash one, get it to work and LEAVE IT ALONE!!!! lol

When I look for ROMs, it HAS to follow these things:
1. Aesthetics: It's first thing that I look for and will determine if I keep a ROM
2. Apps and the UI have to work well and not sluggish (minus whatever the OP of that particular ROM says doesn't work)
That's pretty much it. A lot of the ROMs out now don't pass the first one (just being honest). I'm NOT downing any developer because I think all of them do great work. I just have different tastes in what I want my phone to look like. I'm clearly a flashaholic and haven't found that one setup that will keep me from flashing. I'll hopefully [<~ keyword] find it one day.....

Most devs for ROMS keep the look tock and leave it up to the ROMS followers to make themes for it. Most people like the stock sense look if they are flashing a sense ROM and most AOSP people already know how they like to have AOSP set up so its just easiest to please everyone by leaving it stock.
There are a few different apps out there that allow you to change the font. Try a different app.
Man I've never had that issue with miktweaks. I don't know what to tell you. Maybe try a fresh version of the rom? Have you downloaded it several times already?

Yup. Both times it happened it was on a fresh install.

Not all ROMS are "user" Friendly. And the real kicker of it is that what is friendly for me may not be for you. its a crazy world filled with awesome technology and we're clueless as to how to tap into the power it has to offer. Starting to feel like a pencil in a dotCom world?

That's definitely true. But the thing about it is that Mik roms ALWAYS work on my phone (and clearly still do) it was just changing the font in his built-in tweaks that borked everything.
I retract my post about never using Mik roms again. I flashed it but I just left the font part of the tweak alone. Works flawless like always. DroidSans it is *sigh*

I had the same problem with Mik tweaks, but only on 3.11. I gave up and switched to different roms. I really like aosp roms because I can tweak everything. Its like theming your own rom. But I feel the same way sometimes, what works great for others seems to never work for me. My phone is fickle also.
I know you tried it, but reloaded is working well for me with the stock Mason kernel. But even with this set up I have SD card issues occasionally. Still is more stable than most other roms on my phone.

I forget...have you tried font installer? Free app on the market.
