Default Need help evo 4g rooting

This is my first time rooting so as you can see I am new to all this last night I desided to root my evo 4g and see what its really capable of doing so I followed all the steps from htcdev.com and was successfull on unlocking my phone the next step is where I'm stuck I tried loading a few apps from google play that are suppost to be for rooted phones and it tells me that my phone is not rooted, also when I go on recovery mode to to try to load some thing a red triangle comes a few swconds after and nothing happens What am I doing roght. please help

you are not done yet. unlocking the bootloader is the first step. you still need to get a custom recovery and flash the su file that will give you root permission. here is the guide you need:[Revised] Rooting Gingerbread 2.3.5 Dummies Guide. go the HTCdev method and start with step #2.
