you are not done yet. unlocking the bootloader is the first step. you still need to get a custom recovery and flash the su file that will give you root permission. here is the guide you need: [Revised] Rooting Gingerbread 2.3.5 Dummies Guide. go the HTCdev method and start with step #2.
