The Evo 4g is a great phone and it's amazing how much support there still is for it.

well if you want to root it, here is the guide you want:
[Revised] Rooting Gingerbread 2.3.5 Dummies Guide

good luck and let us know how it goes or if you have any questions.

After a long battle, I finally got it to work , command prompts were the culprits haha, so specific on how u have to type them, its crazy, anyway, I unlocked it none the less, s-on is still on and green, but it hasn't caused any issues, I'm running amon_RA 2.3 recovery, cyanogenmod 7.2, but I'm in the process of putting on miui V4.1, android version 4.1.1 version 2.12.28 I really hope it works I dnt like gingerbread , but my sd card is taking so long partitioning....
