After I have rooted the phone did an auto update of the latest software update. First it download the software and rebooted the phone. While rebooting picture of a harddisk imagecame and after sometime there was red question mark on top of the hardisk image. Thephone started , it was working. But when I tried to update the software again it says the software is corrupted and to download again. I would like to go back to the original version before rooting.
I downloaded [ROM]RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26 - xda-developers as per your suggestion. Can you please let me know a step by step by process as to get back to the original state. I am a newbie.
Also wanting to go back stock, however, downloaded the file, run it, and I keep getting USB connection errors, on two different computer, even downloaded the HTC Sync Pack to get the USB Drivers, and nothing. Any ideas?

The only thing you need your usb for is to get the stock "PC36IMG.zip" onto your sd card. There is a few threads over at xda devolpers with a stock/ sim-stock non-rooted rom download you can use. Once on the sd card, just make sure the file name is "PC36IMG.zip", reboot by holding I "think" vol. down and power. Wait few seconds, and it should ask if you want to uodate, say yes. after its done updating, it should ask if you want to reboot, say yes. Now your back to stock. Horray! Also, if your phone does not start flashing by itself after about a minunite, there should be a option to power down. After powering down, hold vol. up and power, this should fix it... My phone is not in front of me to try right now, sorry for the inconvinces this may cause. Good luck and I am not responsible for the bricking of any phones.... try at your own risk....
Out of curiosity, what (if any) is the significance of the name PC36IMG.zip or does it matter what the name is as long as it ends in zip.
Also, is the "RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_rel ease_171253.exe" the same thing as the PC36IMG.zip, just applied to the phone differently?

what can i do to fix it
in the hboot screen do you have an option to go to recovery? if you do then you can either restore a nandroid or flash another rom.

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what exactly are you trying to do? do you have a recovery that you can get to? what is your recovery? which PC36IMG file did you try?
I have s on but I keep trying run stock Rom and it reads it but won't give me the option to update it. And I reboot and I still have superuser app and superuser access. Can someone please help I have to get back to stock so it can be serviced.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but if you have S-ON, then you just need to load a Sprint RUU onto the root of your SD card with the name of PC36IMG.zip and then load up the bootloader and update.

Yeah that's what I thouht to but it wouldn't give me the option to update after it reads the file. I ended up having to load the htc sync and the stock Sprint ru and let that and HTC sync completely rewipe the phone.

what is your hboot? power off then press and hole power+vol down. this will take you to the bootloader screen. report what you see there and we can go from there.
also what PC36IMG file are you using?
and lastly why do you want to unroot?

ok but you should never accept an ota while you are rooted. all you would have to do is flash the latest rooted ota and you wuld have been fine.
so pull the battery out and wait 30 sec then put it back in. then press and hold power+vol down and report back what you see on the screen.

interesting. where did you get that ruu? that is a very old ruu and it has a totally different hboot then what revolutionary provides.
do you have a card reader? we can try other ruu's and see if we can get the phone back up and running. not much options at this point but we can try a few and see if they work. you will need a card reader or someway to get the file over to the sd card.

yea i have a card reader... i really hope you can help me i just want my evo back to how it was when i bought it
ok that thread is really old and the ruu i believe might be for eclair if i'm not mistaken. you really have to be careful on what you try out on your phone.
ok well let see what we can do. one question when did you use revolutionary to root your phone? just trying to get a timeline on when you rooted and what your baseband and hboot was going from that.

this is the RUU screen. sounds to me like flashing an bad/corrupt/incomplete/really old RUU goofed something up,or possibly something interupted the comunications while it was running.
since its stuck in RUU mode, you may have more luck running another .exe file than a PC36IMG.
-let us know what happens with what your downloading now.
-if your phone will not find PC36IMG becasue its stuck in RUU mode, download and run this (as administrator if possible): Shipped ROMs that is the same thing, but a .exe file.
am i correct that when you plug the phone in to your PC,the screen with the triangles automatically comes up? if so,just run the RUU with the phone like that.
-if the .exe fails, there are some tings you can try,but it will require the use of adb. do you have adb set up,and have any experience with it?
ocnbrze,do you know if the 4g is an emmc,or a mtd device?

The 4G is an mtd device (not that I know what that means, though).
I'm very disappointed that the HTC stat site is not available anymore. It was a blog, but had all the data.
Anyway, I keep finding reference to both emmc and mtd wrt partition blocks for that device (those are just designated file system types, like Microsoft's NTFS, FAT32, ext2, etc ad infinitum ).

Got it. Yeah, I'm sure it's an MTD device, as I have seen my device tell me I have bad mtd blocks when trying to flash recoveries. That, and the misc partition img file is named "mtd.img." And the Firerat Mod is for resizing mtd partitions.

Rather than continue to review it myself, I'm posting it here so we can look at it as a group and see if there's a path to solution.
Hope this helps!
PS - Sounds like the old RUU was for the old partition tables, and this phone is using the newer ones - if I'm not mistaken, the above thread shows the right partition sizes - or - someone with a modern Evo can post their /proc/mtd just to be sure.
Mine's from launch in June 2010, so I'll be of limited help with that sort of thing.
