I flashed the new radio and pri at work earlier, waiting on the phone to charge back up then I am going to reflash the rom and see what happens.

I'm not having camera issues, just Gallery, it keeps saying "No Photos Found".

Most people are having no trouble, according to the XDA thread.

We all seemed to face something, in my case, I didn't clear data, you know.

I wonder if it's an error in Aroma wiping properly, or something weird (I don't want to throw rocks at Aroma). Just saying, what if it's something subtle with different manifestations?

Anyway, if trouble persists, maybe try to clear both caches, zip align, and fix permissions from recovery.

You're s-off, correct?

BTW, it's official, I'm an idiot.

DSP Manager has libraries that I lost when system was formatted. Reflash, no problems.

Also, you can turn off that annoying Beats notification and restore the range of Beats settings found in 1.0.0. I'll post links if anyone is interested.

I did both caches, a factory reset, a wipe then reload and did a full wipe during the reload. I did not load up my apps or data yet, went ahead and did the OTA (it feels so weird saying that) beforehand and all seems fine now.

I think I may manually set everything up a little at a time to see if it was a conflict. Everything is backed up so I haven't lost anything.

I think you may be on to something about subtle differences manifesting.

And yes, I am s-off!

Rocking the camera on this. It's actually working properly so far.

Stock rooted it would click like crazy and take 2 pictures. Even the HQ camera mod would act "weird" for me. This seems to work. I'm going to knock on wood just to be safe.

I haven't read the thread over at XDA, but has any progress been made on the Linkify nonsense?

I already passed it along to Viper. Install at your own risk.
It's probably fine to install but nand first just in case.

I don't use the stock email I use gmail and hotmail and I get notified by both on wifi and 3g. so definitely sounding like a stock issue.

Dunno.

I do know that I agree with a suggestion made at XDA -

Edit /etc/init.d/21viperrom

Comment out the read_ahead_kb line.

Mine runs noticeably faster now.

That controls sd card read ahead buffering.

I have Boat Browser set to cache to the sd card.

The performance difference in that and my forum apps is astounding.

I was ready to bail on this for lack of responsiveness and the linkify nonsense.

I can wait a little bit on the linkify nonsense now.

This screams.

If you have a text editor on the phone it can be done through that. Just save an unedited copy if you need to change it later.

OK just tested it out and apparently I am not getting email alerts on wifi, I do get Gmail.

After going over the XDA thread yesterday I did notice a lot of similar little problems, I am thinking Early may be on to something about "something subtle with different manifestations." Acore crash, gallery issue, notification issues are a few of the quoted problems, there were more but I can't remember them off hand after just one cup of coffee.

Did my first OTA ever now am 2.01 with viper. Think it may be a tad over rated

BIG +1 to Early for the ringtone fix find. That worked well for me.

not sure what the update fixes as for me I really wasn't having the issues others have been having. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones this go around. I don't use stock email though so can't say if I had problems with that or not as I uninstalled it

I did the firmware update yesterday and I think it actually helped with 3g.

My gmail began to work at some point, weird.

However, now when I try to access my phone I get "process android.acore.process stopped" or something like that. I'm wiping my cache now and if that doesn't work, I'm going to flash the new firmware and radios.

Holy incredible battery life Batman! Usually after 8 hours at work of listening to audio books my phone is down to 40%-50% depending on the ROM. With Viper 2.0, I have 70% left at the end of the day! Yowza!

  • Fixed AOSP Lockscreen workaround
  • Fixed CPU stats in Statusbar (no longer shows C2,C3 - changed to say CPU0 and CPU1)
  • Fixed some typos in VenomTweaks.apk
  • Updated Settings.apk to show VenomTweaks and remove menu/recent app setting (do it through tweaks)
  • Updated VenomHUB.apk to support Skin downloads
  • Updated build.prop to work with new VenomHUB changes (ro.build.product=jet now. Will fix some server issues with HUB, including news, links, statusbar mods, etc)
  • Updated DCM to fix small errors when changing down_differentialand sampling_down_factor
  • Updated vC to enable/disable Camera button wake & better handling of daemons (opens the CPU Config menu when no daemon is running so you can pick either OC daemon or viperDaemon)
  • Added MMS over WiFi and Removed MMS Compression
  • Fixed 750+ms FC when adjust button hold length in Tweaks
  • Added shorter 50ms and 100ms long press options

Please take the OTA or use the full ROM provided. As a warning, if you don't update to this, HUB will not work right (you won't see statusbar mods, etc). We needed to make a change to the build.prop so that HUB will display device specific news, links, etc without breaking OTA. It was a necessary move, just make sure to update

You'll need to flash the kernel since you're S-ON. You can try -viperboy-'s boot.img flasher that he just made. You'll need to do it from your computer though. You can find it here:

Yes if your s-on you must fastboot flash or use flash image gui the kernel. Either will work fine.

I'm am s-on hboot 1.15. I was initially having the bootloop issue.

I read on xda that if you say no when asked to reboot in the aroma installer and reboot from twrp recovery instead, it should work.

I don't know why but it worked for me.

Awesome sauce, thanks for posting that.

Also have you flashed your kernel with flash GUI or ADB?

Mail - I deleted one of my accounts and re-entered it, again.

Started getting mail notifications on that account.

Soft storage error?

It's not the rom.

Today my phone came off the charger at 8am, was at 30% by 2:45pm, charged it to 75% and by 8pm was down to 16%.

The only two changes were the OTA and Bad Piggies. I removed Bad Piggies but it still dropped 3% in about 10 minutes with no use.

No more use than normal so I am not sure why the big change all of a sudden.

On Edit: It seems to have gone back to normal after removing bad piggies, probably checking location constantly.

My secrets are -

* No social networking babbling on my phone. When I want to see twitter, I run Tweetlanes interactively.

* I have location services turned off. Watch your browser and forum app transactions. You can set them to no location tracking, but they don't stop as expected. They go for location first, get it, and then decide to not transmit. At least one that's what I believe from my observable. And car nav works fine. All gps requires is ephemeris tables. I may snick location on to get a fix and tables before turning it off and leaving the house. Breaks Now, but I don't care.

* wifi compadre. My biggest cheat in that graph is that I was on wifi.

I have 3 Mail accounts polling at a constant 30 minute interval throughout the day and another 3 that update real time through Gmail.

I maintain 3 active Gtalk accounts at all times and an AIM account active at all times via the imo app.

I use Boat Browser and Boat Browser Mini at the same time as two tapatalk-based forum apps (both Boats being far more efficient than the apps, just watch the gps indicator to see why).

I run auto brightness and don't baby my radios.

I came here thanks to j4n87 (I hope I didn't mess that up!) work courtesy of joelz Charmeleon, played extensively with V6 SuperCharger (thank you zep!) and stayed for the Viper4G love.

I currently run the stock minfree values.

But I do cheat, the graph of power use is on wifi. My expectation is 10% drop per hour of screen on time.

I'd love to run a custom kernel but I don't want to mess with success.

That's my story and I am sticking to it, boss!

OK, it appears to have been Bad Piggies, at 4pm I was at 49% and that was off the charger at 6:40am!

Do you have something that showed it was sucking battery? Think it was "phoning home" or just the ads? Just by being installed, or when using it?

Just being installed, it was probably checking location and phoning home frequently. Like they say, you don't get nothing for free...

OK I have it installed, I'm just trying to find the process or service that could be running. Do you know what it could be?

EDIT:
Ok, now it's my turn to admit I'm an idiot. You posted your issues were fixed. I need to read everything before posting. LOL

Are you S-off, or are you still S-on with HTCdev?

Reason being, if you are S-on, you'll need to flash the kernel manually. S-on won't allow flashing to the boot partition.

That might be part of your issue.

Read this guide for instructions if you're S-on:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/606748-how-install-kernels-h-boot-1-15-a.html

If you're S-off, you might want to try and re-download the rom, then re-flash.

I guess me fixing my ringtone issue then flashing this new one messed up my ringtones again. (I have all custom floyd ringtones ) assign the one I want for the wife and when she called it was the default one hmmm so i reinstalled the apk not sure if that fixed it she is at work and can't call me now. Now MIUI is out and i'm going to flash that for the awesomeness I expect it to be. still will be keeping virus around though.
