Default [rom][12-17-13] cm-11.0-jewel [kit-kat][4.4.2]

[rom][12-17-13] cm-11.0-jewel [kit-kat][4.4.2] - xda-developers

Yes, you read that right. KitKat on the EVO 4G LTE! All thanks to deck, along with Flemmard and intervigil to bring it up in record time!

A specific version of TWRP is required to flash it (linked in the thread) with SELinux support. Don't worry; it can be used to flash any other ROMs too.

So stop on over there and enjoy!

I can see this and Sense 5 Port - Android 4.1.2 - working Bluetooth, Face Unlock being our hot new roms for a while so I decided to stick both of them.

Yeah - we have a thread for that.

Yeah - the sticky list is longer than usual.

Yeah - I don't care.

Hate to be hard to get along with, but is there a bootloader zip version of the recovery?

Or, could I just zip that image and rename it correctly? I really don't know how that works.

I haven't used adb, am not set up for it and am too lazy to mess with it.

Get the Mini SDK, unzip as suggested -

ADB Guide (updated 2013/05/21)

Download the recovery image, move to the sdk tools folder.

Put phone in fastboot mode - iow, boot into bootloader, go to fastboot.

Get a command (dos) window.

Say in that window, copy/paste is fine -

fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-jewel-selinux.img

Profit!

Is that an app or what?

edit: Ok, I am on the hunt...

edit 2: found it in the playstore, was a pleasure to throw JoeyKrim a dollar.

edit 3: quick and relatively painless. The rom booted 2 or 3 times... that was interesting.

edit 4: Very interesting, and quick as the dickens. Gps probs though, same as always for me on AOSP. Trying the sense lock technique.

Would this rom use the updated TP firmware from a while back? I have been running on the non upgraded version.

Okay, here are my test results on this ROM.

The ROM runs smoothly (thumbs up)-
It will take some getting use to using the keyboard -
Calendar doesn't seem to be syncing at all -
I tried numerous time to create a CyanogenMod account to no avail -
4G LTE connects ... but doesn't do anything at all. [Completely Useless] -
Double tap / zoom in / zoom out don't work as awesome as in Jellybean -

Apart from those cons listed ... I think this ROM has potential to be the best Android version ever.

Keep in mind that each person result and preference may vary.

Not getting 4G Lte to work ...and the calendar app to sync are the two biggest deal breaker for me.

Installing Google Calendar will fix the sync issue. And LTE does work, but you may have to toggle airplane mode to get it to connect the first time. It works fine for me, but everyone's device is different.

And zooming is supposed to be by pinching and spreading. CM supports 10-point multi-touch, while stock Jellybean only supports 2-point, so your double tap accuracy has to be better in CM to get registered as multiple touches in the same location. That's why pinching is recommended .

You need to post those tips inside the OP of this thread ... Here I'm thinking that I wouldn't be able to use this ROM because of the problems I was having.

Is there anything else you'd like to share? [Smile]

4G LTE network and the calendar app now works.
Thanks again__Cap_THrowback.

If only this ROM was a Sense UI.

I just can't get over not using Sense. I am running your ROM, Cap. I made a nandroid of this ROM, but i am missing Blink Feed and Sense keyboard.

Noticed the Captain explained at XDA that running an old hboot was not a good idea here.

Here's where to get the update -

Yep, reboot-bootloader. Here's a handy pocket guide to commands -

List of fastboot command.

Also lists engineering bootloader commands, and Rumrunner is an eng bootloader.

Don't ask, I haven't used eng commands for a few years now lol.

Doubt you ever will, anyway, it's a good link.

How to get the latest version of this ROM?

Yeah, I've seen the download link in the OP thread on XDA. But is that the latest 11.13.13?

I assume that is the latest download Rush.

Keep checking back to see if there are any updates.

I still haven't had a chance to flash this.

Can you update the hboot by placing the file from the rumrunner into the external sd and renaming it to "PJ75IMG.zip" then booting into the bootloader?

I might have read that on xda but I'm not too sure.

There's a post providing the updated recovery that way.

I wouldn't mess with bootloader installation instructions without verifying that.

I cannot for the life of me get this ROM to work. I'm on the latest TWRP and I'm s-off. But every time I try to flash it it fails. I think I'm on the second to oldest hboot, might that cause an issue?

Need to be on latest hboot, need to be using the TWRP from the op of the thread at XDA, it's modified to support the new kernel.

How do you update the hboot? I used to know but I can't remember.

http://rumrunner.us/hboots/

I believe that the Capn told me that you can fastboot flash that from your SD card but confirm before trying, I'm not all here.

Everything works smoothly until I get to the command "fastboot flash zip hboot_rumrunner_jewel_3.17.651.4.zip" then it just says "sending..." indefinitely. It shouldn't take long to send 398KB right? First command was a success at clearing cache. Second command took me to a black screen with just HTC on it. But that's as far as I can seem to get.

Are you sure you're S-OFF?

Positive. I used DirtyRacun back when it was brand spankin new. I was very insistent on getting s-off because fastboot flashing kernels was such a pain in my butt. I also used the bootloader customizer. Might that be causing some sort of issue?

You actually don't have to update hboot to flash the ROM. As long as you're using one of the SELinux recoveries, it should flash fine.

So it looks they are still working out data connectivity issues with this ROM, correct?

I just put CM 10.1 on my htc evo 4g (supersonic) and wanted to see if there was a nice stable kitkat upgrade for the stock rom on my ltevo/jewel. But looks like we're still waiting, yes?

Is the 10.2 version good for the ltevo?

I am using the Cyanogenmod 11 kitkat nighties, and my data connections are ok. I did have to flash the Ting carrier specific apn (since I am on Ting), which seemed to be a tricky procedure, to get data to work. It seems that 3G doesn't always turn on automatically so I have to toggle it to get it to work.
I am using the CM11 as DD at the moment, and I love it! As far as I know, everything works. But then, I don't use all features. I removed most of the Google stuff, including Google Now.

I have only had my LTEVO a few weeks, and I did use 10.2 for a number of days before switching to 11. On 10.2, I was able to get data to work, but I couldn't get the GPS to work. On kitkat, the GPS seems to work, although I haven't used it extensively.

I have s-on, unfortunately, nonetheless ... i would love to flash this ROM. So, I am not a tech savvy person when it comes to rooting -- but i don't shy away from a challenge either.

Can you give me some info on getting around doing this, Cap? <smile>

... I figured it out.

I have to pull out the boot img and flash through fastboot. This method is somewhat a tedious task.

My thing is...why can't I get s-off --- even after following the procedure step-by-step.

Have you posted in the rooting thread? There are S-OFF methods that work with all software versions for jewel.

I did...but no one seems to know anything different than what I already tried doing.

Could you assist me in trying to get this done?

I don't know any more than the next person. There are IRC channels for support on most of the methods.

You might just need to start from scratch. Relock, run the 3.17 RUU, and then unlock again and reinstall a custom recovery. You might even be able to get S-OFF to work after that, if something's just not working right on the device.

I can't think of any reason these things shouldn't be working for you.

You may need recovery and root to get s-off to work.

Despite it not being stated as a rumrunner.us requirement, others have found that they need to.

Suggest you move all of this to your own thread because it's not related to cm11.
