I have to bump this one up. Seems like no one has complain about the audio quality from video and voice recording. Its sounded very low quality, completely impossible to record a live music performance since all you can hear is garbled up sounds.
It's AOSP actually, and it stands for Android Open Source Project. Basically there are a few custom roms made by these people, that have everything extra stipped out, so no sprint stuff, no htc stuff. Just straight android.

So thats the only fix. How about 2.3 do you think gingerbread has to have this fix in it. I mean it would be ******ed if it did not. And what I dont understand is how is it that the codec cant record while taking video but it can record in AAC when you recording just audio. I downloaded an app called tape machine which records in amazing quality and has to be AAC. I also tried LG Camera but when you set the AAC setting on it crashes the app.
I spoke to the developer he told me he doesnt think it can work. But I told him the phone has the ability to record in AAC. Also since he made the app for that specific reason so you could record with it on which works for droid users and also works for the HD2 which is the american version of the Evo. Which I dont undestand why it would crash the app when it has the ability to use that codec. Any one have any update or more ideas on any of this.
well...devs are the people who make each rom...so there are multiples (developers) each one does things a bit differently. read through their full descriptions and even changelogs.
