Default "The application HTC Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly."

I seem to get this error message when I turn on the phone after powering off. I get to click "force close" and then it seems to work ok. Any thoughts?

I had this issue and the only way I could get rid of it to be able to use the phone was to hard reset the phone. Everything works fine now but I lost all my information.

clear out the HTC sense data in the "applications" menu, in settings. That worked for me.

This link has been posted elsewhere on this site - but its very informative for other HTC desire related problems etc.

FIX: “The Application HTC Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly”

If all else fails, here's the procedure for a factory reset with backups to save time.

http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting-evo-4g/141369-how-fix-froyo.html

The end of the previous article even mentioned that it might be required if that method did not work.

Hi, my Hero has, for the last day, been geting the “The Application HTC Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly” message, I've spent hours on the internet and have had no joy with any of the sugested fixes. I can't get into settings as my 'desktop' wont load, I cant search for it either, no matter how long I hold the search button down for it only brings the message again. I've tried reseting it through the boot menu, I dont think this is working because I can still see personal settings. I cant install LauncherPro because I need to change the setting in market to allow me to install it through a PC.
Please if anyone has had this problem, or thinks they know somthing that might help, I will be so happy!

Man - rough duty.

I think the only thing you can safely do at this point is to take it to a Sprint store.

I did but the water damage thing has turned pink, it could only have been from sweat in my pocket, but it's invalidated the warrenty, only 20 months left of the contract! if someone calls me I can call them back and when i get a text i can read and reply to it, I managed to send myself a text with a link in it now i can open the browser. Does anyone know a link to settings so I can do a hard reset?

I checked the Hero forum - it seems your phone is ok with a factory reset, for example -

http://androidforums.com/htc-hero/149924-factory-reset-what-do-i-need-backup-how.html

Here's the backup / reset / restore advice a lot of us are using -

http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-support-troubleshooting/141369-how-fix-froyo.html

Maybe ping here or that other thread in the Hero forum if the settings path to reset is not the same for your phone.

Hope this helps.

A big PS - the water damage thing on the EVO is kinda pink by default and is normal - maybe your phone didn't register sweat at all, and you're actually ok.

Did Sprint tell you if the indicator showed water?

If you're unsure, can you post a close-up pic of the indicator itself, maybe to the Hero forum, or here if you get no joy there?
