Angry Touching buttons while on a Call

I have now hung up on all my friends and am starting to get aggravated. Whenever I'm on a call, my face either presses the mute button or end call button. Any ideas?

...The screen should turn off when it is next to your face. If it isn't you installed something that is causing an issue with the proximity sensor, it' been disabled, or it's bad.

This is habbit from when I was using my Hero (it doesn't have a proximity sensor what-so ever, so you were forced to do this); when answering the phone, or putting it to your face after placing a call, put the phone to your ear touching the top speaker down first, hold just a second, then you place it on your cheek or however you find it most comfortable. The sensor will pick up on your ear, shut the screen off, and you'll be good to go without hanging up.
