Exclamation Evo from hell????

It always seems like there's something wrong with my evo. This morning I went to pick up my evo after it was plugged in all night (like i do every night) and it was burning hot. I looked at it and it said it was 133 degrees so i unplugged it and turned it off immediately, after it cooled down I turned it back on and it was at 70% battery after it was charging all night, so it wasn't charging at all last night even though the light was on and it was showing a green full charge when I woke up. after I turned it on it was on for about 2 minutes then automatically rebooted and then was on for another 3 min and rebooted again for no reason. my phone reboots randomly alot. this happens to me a few times a day usually 2 or 3 times. sometimes while im doing something important and sometimes when the evo is int even being used.

Does anyone have any idea what my problem might be?

My evo setup is fresh 3.3, no custom kernel. ebay 3000mah battery no case or anything like that for overheating. ive been running this setup for months (just with lower fresh builds) and have random reboots. This is the first overheating issue. The only thing thats changed is I started using a .99 ebay blackberry micro usb but ive been using that for a week and never had a charging issue. my hw v is 3

that could be your first problem.

And that's your second, and most likely problem. Those ebay batteries are made cheaply and are known to get so hot they explode. Try using your stock battery for a few days and see if that gets hot.

Did you do a complete wipe before installing fresh 3.3? I have been running fresh since I bought my Evo 2 months ago with zero issues. I would try a wipe as he instructs and use the stock battery!

Yep I always wipe before a rom install, that was my first guess. The only thing I do is restore my apps with titanium backup but I never heard of people having issues because of that before

Well I have seen in reading that some people restore system backups after using a rom, you never know. I would try the stock battery and see if that is not effecting things. If not take her back to Sprint. I have had nothing but good things with both my Hero, which my daughter is using, and my Evo, son also has one with zero issues.

Good Luck!!

Im not sure because Ive been using this battery a long time with no problem, even now I plugged in the phone and its charging fine with no problems. If it does this again tonight maybe its the battery, I was thinking maybe it was something to do with that battery being plugged in to long.

nothing is wrong with it, but often when people with custom roms have problems, the rom is to blame.

Again, those cheap chinese batteries have been known to have problems, even explode. They are made cheaply, not with quality in mind. Just try the stock battery for a few days and see if it goes away. If it does, then the battery is to blame.

With a fully functioning battery, that will never be the case. If the battery is damaged or has a problem, it will continue to charge even though its full, causing it to get hot. And again, this is very dangerous, as the battery could explode.

Also, the reason it had 70% after charging was that it had overheated and stopped charging in the middle of the night.

Usually this happens when there's some app or service that is hammering your device at 100% usage for long periods, or if you're using GPS+maps+something else for a while. Even if nothing seemed to be running, something was, in the background.

You can see the CPU usage of each app using a program called System Panel in the market. There's a free and paid version, the paid version allows you to do background logging (so you can graph over time).
