trying to download apk files
ok i am trying to download apk files from 4shared and when i go to download them i get a message saying the content is not supported on the phone. no application can be found to open this file

download astro from the market, it lets you install apks.

You need to rename the file extension from .bin to .apk.
That'll fix your problem. Have to do it all the time when I download apks with Custom ROMs.

Not nesessarily. .bin files can also be compressed folders, just like Zip files but with a .bin extension. You may need to extract them first, the apk may be inside.

yeah i tried to rename them and that dont work..... they are just .bin files when they are downloaded on the phone but when i download them on my computer they are .apk files with the name in front of them

Ithats right. I forgot they can be compressed times. I think most of the file managing apps like Astro and Andro zip can open files like zip and din files.

ok when you download the file it saves as a .bin and then you go and rename it to the file name you want.
so say you download adw and it saves as .bin, you rename it to adw.apk and then it will change

nope this was done on 4shared part lol the only way to not have to change the ext is to download to your computer and then put on your SD card
