Default EVO Email Synching Function No Longer Working Right

I noticed that after the last OS update was pushed down to my phone a couple of months ago the email isn't syncing correctly. Before, if I accessed my email by PC and deleted some, they would also delete on my EVO. That is no longer happening. I have to delete them in both places now which is a little annoying. Has anyone else had this issue?

I already deleted the email account on my EVO and set it up all over again. That didn't resolve the issue.

Gmail or IMAP email?

Try taking out the battery and signing into your account again.

If you are talking about POP3 mail, there is no need to remove the battery or sign-in again; this is a known problem with the default mail client in the 2.2 update for Evo.

I haven't used the stock email client for a while, but numerous people have reported this problem. Your choices are 1). Live with it (but report it to Sprint/HTC) or 2). Use a different email client such as K-9 or Maildroid.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, it's POP3. Thanks for the response. I was hoping for a solution, but at least now I know I'm not the only one. Guess I'll have to live with it for now. Too many people have my email address to go with a different one. Maybe in the next update they'll fix it.

You can keep the same email address, just use a different client that does what you want. I use K-9 and it works the way you want it to; the learning curve on K-9 is a bit steep as it has many options and they are sometimes hard to find, so if you decide to try K-9 and have questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hmm not sure why it was working that way to begin with unless you originally had it set up via IMAP. POP3 allows each client to download a copy of the messages to local storage and then that client can send a delete command to the server. So for example I have my work Oulook setup as the main email so I have it set to delete email of the server after receiving and none of my other email clients on other PC's get it. However my phone and home PC's are both set to leave a copy on the server so when I can make sure I get them on my work pc as well for backup purposes. All instances are separate inboxes with the messages kept locally so deleting from my work PC would not delete it from my home pc and phone and vice versa. I imagine there are however email clients that would mark the message for deletion on next send and receive but I am not positive. I think the Evo deleting the emails automatically was a happy accident personally.

See if your email has an Imap option as this setup will do what you want.
