Notsure Suddenly dropping calls, and no bars - only at home

Hope someone can help with this issue...
My husband and I have had our Evos since February, and all of a sudden, we went from having between 3-4 bars, down to 0-1 bars anywhere near our home in the middle of a pretty large suburb (Chandler, AZ.)
I work from home, and last week, my phone dropped calls from my boss 12 times in one day, while I was standing outside. This is becoming a huge problem, not just an inconvenience.
I was thinking it was our phones, but then we went to Cleveland for the weekend and had 4-5 bars of service everywhere we went. As soon as we got back home, we went back to having 0-2 bars.
I tried calling Sprint customer service, but of course, as soon as I made it through the touch-tone menus, security questions, and telling them my problem, the call drops. (You think they'd try calling me back, since they asked for my number 3 times each call, and know my phone has an issue with dropping calls...)
So I gave up and went to the Sprint store, but they swear it's just our phones, and want us to pay $35 each to have them 'looked at.' It seems mighty strange to me that both of our phones got signal problems at the same time, and only in the Chandler area...
I've updated the PRL, profile, firmware, and software, I've force-closed just about every app that doesn't Have to be running, and the only way I can get any bar at all is to turn off Wifi. Using info in another thread, I checked our signal strength, and we're both getting about -98 to -102 db. In Cleveland, we got around -74 to -80 db.
Thoughts? Is it our phones, or crappy service?

Having a hard time believing its your phone if you went elsewhere and got good service. For 35 dollars all they will do is what you have already done. Have you noticed any new Antenna's in your area? I wonder if something was just built around your area or if there were some upgrades done in your area by another company. I would continue to try and get intouch with sprint and insist that they give you the airave. My dad has one and it really helped his signal. I have been contemplating it I mean even if you had to purchase it. Its a one time purchase of 130 and its is also supposed to help with text / mms messages and data. You do need a High Speed internet connection to have it work. Not sure of anything else to do at the moment.

You can also try some programs to help you clean out the Cache if you are not rooted. See if that helps.

Notsure thanks

Thanks for the input.
The Sprint stores are still all claiming it's me, not them, and their online customer service hasn't contacted me back yet (they said within 24 hours over a week ago, so I'm not holding my breath).
But my voice signal as of today is suddenly stronger than it's ever been at my location, so I'm guessing they fixed a tower that wasn't working. Here's hoping the problem is solved.
My 3G is still pretty slow and I still can't get 4G at all, even though I'm within the boundaries of a green spot on Clear/wiMAX map, and in the 6th largest city in the US - but that's another complaint for another day.

I have to use wifi at home. not even in a 4G area and wimax is not all its cracked up to be from the reports i have seen. Big battery hog.

Sprint is going to go on the LTE network and abandon wimax. to many issues from what i understand.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I started having this problem last night on my Evo4G. I can't seem to hold a phone call for more than 3 seconds before it drops. This happens primarily at home, although I haven't done a great deal of testing outside of the home at this point. Have you had any luck resolving your issue?

have you updated the prl and profile lately? try doing those then restart the phone and see if that helps.

Angry issue resolved

The first thing I tried the first day we had the issue is to update everything that can possibly be updated. Didn't help a bit.

It is VERY clear now that it was in fact them, not me, because without doing anything to our phones, the problem is completely solved and I've been getting the full six bars of signal now, and haven't dropped a call in days.

So, just to clarify - We've always had good signal (just not 4G) at our house until a few weeks ago, when both of our phones suddenly couldn't get enough signal to hold a conversation. Without doing anything on our end, service magically returned to normal on its own after a few weeks.

I basically didn't have a usable phone for over two weeks, which was not easy, since I am a remote employee and all my meetings are over the phone, and Sprint will not admit fault.

If Sprint goes to LTE and the Evo uses WiMAX, what will happen to our service? Is this something that can be changed on the Evo through an update?

Not sure what the plan is. Most likely they will make a radio update available but with sprint who knows. I'm glad your service is back to satisfactory
