I am a metro dealer and I had a customer come in with a evo that was rooted and hacked to work on meto. I belive that who ever hacked it had changed MEID to one that was already existing on metro. The phone was maser reset to factory of the root and the MEID on the phone was reverted to the one that actually comes on the phone. Customer had bought it this way from some random. I told them in order for it to activate under metro I would have to flash it with our software to get the correct MEID into metros System. So I did a Metroflash (houdini) on it and prgramed phone for their number and phone wont even make a call no matter what I do. I have tried reprogramming it numerous times had metro Refresh device still noting I either can error message "to make a collect call ......" or you "must dial the are code when calling this number" I have even gone as far as doing a Fresh software install Via RUU method and reflashing.. Any help or ideas would be appreciaed .. Thank You in advance .

You need to use that same illegal software that first changed the MEID to change it back. Nothing will work until that hot mess is undone. The problem is that too often this bricks the phone forever.

I'd say that phone is junk. Have the owner sell it for parts, or just bin it. Time to buy a new phone that's supported by Metro.

I see what your saying thing what gets me though it shows proper ESN under phone info and in QPST so again not sure what the problem is. I dial *228 and still goes to metro so I know PRL is correct very frustrating.

i just bought an evo 4g from a guy off craigslist, he showed me the phone i made calls off of it he was texting me off of it and it had internet and everything and he said it was already flashed to metro with everything working and all i had to do was *228 and change my number...i go to do that and they tell me that the serial number is not in the system and i would have to go to a metro store and get it flashed. i went up to metro but they said the system has been down and they dont know when it will be back up. when i do *228 it goes to metro but from what i can he used an app call EonPhone to add a second line to the phone...so did i pretty much just get suckered outta 200 bucks? or if i get it flashed at metro whenever their systems r up will it work?

Usually You would just have metro flash it for you and text and talk would work. I am running into one of those situation with the phone that I am haveing a probelm with not even doing that. So I can't say for certain but Usually yes it would work. I have yet to be able to get mine to work. And I did the actual MetroFlash for the customer at the store. Still not making calls.
