Default App usage without service

I have an HTC Evo with Sprint service and I'm traveling to Panama next week. Without service, will I be able to access my apps, calender, music, books or be able to browse the web if there is wifi available without data charges? Any recommendations? Thanks

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes your apps and such will work and yes you can use the internet by using wifi. i have and evo that is not activated and i use it for all sorts of things. including using it as an ereader and music player. the only thing you will not be able to do is make phone calls or text messages. you can however use voip when you are on wifi.

VOIP=voice over internet protocol

so you can use your phone's internet via wifi to make phone calls, ie skype.
