I'm just curious to know if anyone else is having weak vibration issues with the haptic feedback using the keyboard. Seems to be normal using the Home, Menu, Back, and Search keys. Also seems normal receiving text message and calls. Yet when typing with the keyboard. It seems strong for a short while, but quickly fades to almost nothing at all. Am I alone with this, or are some of you experiencing the same?
I had this same issue with my hero intermittently. Always thought it was normal until one day 6 months later my Hero's touch screen decided to stop working.. Worried about this being an issue with the EVO. Hoping I didn't pay full price for a possible lemon.
FYI Bought the EVO Friday, and have yet to put a ton of apps on it to hog the memory. I know that might have an effect. Also I have ATK installed. Killed all apps and tried to see if that would help, and nada..

I have noticed this also. Its much weaker than my Incredible was. I have also noticed the feedback not to be consistant among the keys some feel more normal some feel really weak.

I also had a strange issue twice so far. While typing a rather lengthy message. The message app would exit to the home screen for no apparent reason.. Upon returning (by holding Home>Messages). The text was still in the text box, and not saved as draft. Even though the conversation was not open. Curious indeed.. I may be being paranoid here. I admit that, but I do know I did not hit Home or Back by accident.
I have the same issue and choose to ignore it but with this post, I'll keep an eye on it. When I do notice the vibration it tends to be the left side and then taper towards the end or near the end of typing.
hmmm i just figured it was supposed to be that way, it seems to me that it vibrates stronger when you have pauses inbetween the taps and then when hammering a message fast it is smaller vibrations... IDK though

As far as my experiences with Android devices this issue is unique to the EVO. As far as my mention above having the same issue with my Hero. The same feedback issue happened about 2 weeks after rooting it and installing the 2.1 ROM. I thought maybe something wasn't right so I eventually un-rooted and went back to 1.5 (via RUU) and the problem was still there. Before that the feedback was always strong sometimes it would lag but that is expected.
Anyways shortly after that issue my touch screen would intermittently seem to stop recognizing touch inputs. Another week down the road it would start going crazy on its own after touching anything... i.e. Touch to open message app on home screen the weather app would open. Hit home button to return and it would scroll to different home screens and open random apps. It seemed to think you were touching the top of the screen when you would touch the bottom. Eventually it just stopped working all together..
Never got it wet, always kept it clean and protected.. So, I guess someone can understand why I may be a little freaked out over this.. ;]
Im sure sooner or later it will be fixed with an OTA download along with a few other issues.
I agree! (and hope, personally like the feel of feedback) I only started this tread because i was curious to know how many others are experiencing this. Should have made a poll, oops..

That would make sense considering. Not to put you down but would that really be necessary with a 1GHz processor?

I don't know, just stating what I read somewhere. Searched for the post but I'm not seeing it now. If it is the case then I guess it would be necessary being that they designed it that way...I'm not the designer so it wasn't my idea.
Just switched to sprint, and got the Evo. Worked good, but the next day I noticed the glass was separating from the plastic so I exchanged the second I got the replacement I noticed a huge difference, not only is it softer, it almost seems random, and sometimes strong sometimes weak... and sometimes its really weak..I called htc and they said take it back to sprint, Im getting a new one tomorrow, but either way htc should have released an update so the user can adjust the sensitivity like the perfect keyboard app.

I know this is old, but I noticed that on mine too.
I'm on the MIUI ROM and it seems to be like really light. I like the vibrates that you can feel and know are there. I don't know whether it's this Evo or my ROM. My old Evo used to have good vibration.

That's exactly what it is. In every single Android 2.3 ROM I have used, the vibration has been super weak. I am really not liking Gingerbread so far...just like I don't like the food lol
