Default turn off data when screen goes off

is there any way to automatically turn off 3g internet connection when the screen goes off to save battery?

I think the app juice defender does this.

If you do this can you still get phone calls and texts?

Yeah, its just the mobile radio off
so no email and stuff that uses the internet

But if you like me and tether, or use remotesms where you'll have screen off and still using the mobile radio, not a good option
